Seven Falls’ 140th Anniversary Season

ON MARCH 9, 1883, COLORADO HOMESTEADER NATHANIAL COLBY BEGAN welcoming guests to Seven Falls. Visitors could hike into the scenic canyon for ten cents a person and picnic at the foot of a magnificent seven-tiered waterfall. A stairway to the top was added a few years later, along with a road, and visitors arrived on foot, on horseback, and in carriages to see what’s now known as the “grandest mile in Colorado.”

Now under The Broadmoor’s stewardship, Seven Falls is just a short nature trail walk or a five-minute complimentary shuttle ride away from the resort’s main campus. Visitors may now purchase tickets online at SevenFalls.com

This year is a perfect time to visit as we celebrate Seven Falls’ 140th anniversary as a natural attraction. In addition to hiking, The Broadmoor Soaring Adventure, Falling Waffles food truck, and Restaurant 1858 at the base of the falls, look for the return of Chester the Chipmunk, Seven Falls’ mascot, as well as ten four-foot-tall, hand-painted chipmunk statues made by local third-graders. During your visit, please take the time to vote for your favorite chipmunk, as the winning third-grade class will receive a field trip to Seven Falls.
