The organization helps provide free mammograms to women who are unable to afford them. With Lisa involved, their initiative grew and in 2008 it evolved to become the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. This September marks her 10th year of survival from Metastatic Breast Cancer. Doreann DeArmas ’89 -‐ is a Clinical Staff/Charge Nurse in the Trauma Resuscitation Unit at Ryder Trauma Center as well as the Clinical Coordinator for the University Of Miami Advanced Trauma Life Support Courses. In addition, Archbishop Emeritus of Miami John Clement Favalora will receive a special award for his leadership in the Archdiocese of Miami and his generous support of ACND over the years. The school thanks all involved with this event including Major Sponsors: Parkway Properties, Inc.; William ’58 and Sandra Brickman; Swanee DiMare ’65; Dr. Barbara Care-‐Shuler; St. Rose of Lima; and Vantares Inc. The funds raised each year help ACND assure the students of today the highest quality of classroom education, underwrite technological advances and, in the Curley-‐Notre Dame tradition, providing tuition assistance for deserving students. And nearing, its 60th year of education, the school continues to encourage success while preserving a legacy of cherished memories. “My mother worked as a waitress with only an 8th grade education. She worked two jobs so I could go to Curley. Also, Curley always worked with her if she got behind on paying tuition,” comments Honoree, James Heistand ’70. “I believe that my education at Curley was the foundation to the business success I have today. Plus, I had a great time going to school there and always think of those years as a great time in my life.” ###
