SPRING

2011

Dear Allen Edmonds Friends, All of us at Allen Edmonds are excited about the burgeoning appreciation of classic American styling, excellent USA production and superior value that have been so evident in menswear the past several months. We’re extremely grateful to our loyal dealers and customers who’ve supported us through the years, and we welcome the many new aficionados of the Allen Edmonds’ commitments to American manufacturing, styling, quality, value and service. Your business is allowing us to grow jobs in our communities, which is especially gratifying to us as stewards of this important Allen Edmonds legacy. Thank you all! Here are some highlights inside this catalog that I’d like to call out:

•A fter a few years’ hiatus and countless requests, we have brought back the SANFORD in our relentless commitment to listen to our core customers. The Sanford really is a Timeless Classic, both in styling and in fit, and we’ve added a new color to the offering. Worth waiting for… •W e’ve also brought back the STRAWFUT, a style we last made in the 1950s. A customer sent a pair of original Strawfuts to us for repair, and we were very impressed. Air-conditioned and smart-looking, it’s as terrific a combination for spring and summer 2011 as it was in the ‘40s and ‘50s. I wore the prototypes last fall, and I highly recommend them for their comfort and style. I’ve also never had so many comments on a shoe. •T he smart belt in a man’s attire not only matches the shoes but accents the whole presentation. We know from personal experience that choosing that right belt isn’t so easy. Enter Mark McNeill, our director of design, and for over 20 years before joining us in 2009, the men’s tailored clothing buyer at an upscale U.S. department store chain. Mark knows more about classic American menswear than anybody I’ve ever met. He’s the vision behind our first-ever “belt matching guide” herein. • I t’s said that we’re known by the company we keep. Well, we’re so deeply proud of Allen Edmonds Men – from U.S. presidents and other world leaders, to leaders in all other walks of life – that we’ve featured a handful of them in this catalog. As a jazz-lover myself, I was especially impressed when Jason Marshall contacted me directly about his affection for our shoes. People all over the world owe a great debt to our servicemen and servicewomen, represented here by Daniel Grimes. And the story of a father passing along Allen Edmonds shoe advice as told by Michael Miller rings true with thousands of our customers. Thanks also to Arnold Cohen and Leonard Berlin with their great stories. We’re always interested in hearing from our customers, so keep contacting us! •F inally, an announcement. We’ve sold soft-leather loafers made by our production partners in Italy for years. Since they aren’t Goodyear welt construction, we’ve been reluctant to offer our Recrafting® service on these shoes. However, John Bittner (head of our Recrafting line) came to us a few months ago and showed us samples of what he and his team can do. It’s first rate. So, we’re now willing to add our Italians to our Recrafting services. John and his team recrafted 60,000 pairs of AE shoes in 2010, by the way – quite a testament to enduring quality, service and value. From our viewpoint, the economy turned definitively upward in 2010, which was augmented by the “American Classics” styling trend. For Allen Edmonds, the combination was powerful. We look forward to an even stronger 2011, thanks entirely to you and to the people who built this company, its values and its reputation over the past 89 years. With warm regards,

Paul D. Grangaard President & CEO Allen Edmonds Shoe Corporation

Jason Marshall Montecito in Black Leather with Bombay Belt

CL A SSIC COLLECTION Characterized by his ability to lead in and out of the office, the Allen Edmonds Man commands the same level of style and quality in his shoes. The Allen Edmonds Classic Collection provides the shoes he needs for his daily professional wardrobe. New styles include the Player’s Shoe, available in a swath of suede colors for all seasons; the New Orleans, a blucher with woven detail perfect for spring; the LaSalle, a classic split-toe blucher for the office; and the Montecito, a handsewn low vamp penny loafer that pairs well with business casual or casual clothes. 3

As a New York City resident since 2003, I have made a career from a desire to advance the tradition of straight-ahead jazz baritone saxophone. Always endeavoring to appreciate and incorporate the whole of African-American music, my presentation combines elements of soul, R&B and funk with jazz music. I filter my influences such as Cannonball Adderley, Stanley Turrentine and Johnny Griffin through the baritone saxophone in an effort to develop a soulful, hard-swinging approach. I am also a Grammy nominated composer and arranger. As a professional musician, I am always on stage. As a New Yorker, I walk almost everywhere. It’s important for me to look good and feel good as sets on my feet can get pretty long. I discovered Allen Edmonds 4 or 5 years ago and they are my shoe of choice. Currently, my collection consists of 6 pairs, and I have the intentions of growing that portfolio by many more this coming year. My favorite look is a monk strap as well as classic favorites which include the Park Avenue, Kendall, Bayfield and San Marco. I am currently playing at the following venues in New York City: Jazz Standard, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space and Birdland. In addition, my current band “The Jason Marshall Organ Trio” is preparing to release its first album entitled “Sign the Book.” Learn more about my music at jasonmarshalljazz.com.

FEATURES The shoes in the Allen Edmonds Classic Collection are born of American style and have been made in the USA since 1922 using the finest quality leathers. The collection consists of both lace-up and slip-on dress shoes made with all-natural materials for increased breathability. For 89 years, these shoes have appealed to men of all walks of life, including U.S. presidents, international dignitaries, business executives and celebrities. At Allen Edmonds, we’re committed to delivering superior fit and comfort. Because we manufacture our shoes at our companyowned facilities, we can offer them in a broad range of lengths and widths. Many professional athletes wear our shoes because we can accommodate their uniquely large shoe sizes. See our size charts on page 55. Our Timeless Classics Collection is featured on pages 13 and 14. We reintroduced these historically best-selling styles in early 2009 as a result of numerous requests from our customers. We have had so many orders for these styles that we added them to the Classic Collection.

CONSTRUCTION The shoes in the Allen Edmonds Classic Collection* have been constructed by hand using the company’s famous 212-step 360° Goodyear welt construction process. In 2010, Allen Edmonds started offering a 270° welt construction process that allows for a sleek, narrower heel and is also fully recraftable. There are many types and qualities of leather available, but we proudly source only the finest quality leathers. Allen Edmonds calfskin leather has tighter pores than most competitive leathers. Thus, the shoes hold a shine better, are more durable and resist wrinkling. he heated cork layer under the insole forms to your foot over time, providing a T custom, orthotic-like fit. The more you wear your Allen Edmonds shoes, the better they form to your feet. We call this “custom cork comfort.” Allen Edmonds is the largest cobbler in the world, and we perform all Recrafting® services in our Port Washington, Wisconsin facility where many of our Classic shoes were first handcrafted. We recrafted roughly 60,000 pairs of shoes in 2010. To learn more about Recrafting Allen Edmonds shoes, visit allenedmonds.com/recrafting, where you can also see a video of our services.

Calfskin Care Tip Regular polishing of your calfskin shoes will extend the life of your shoes for years of wear. Use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Carnauba Wax Polish, Premium Polish or Shoe Cream with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry. Remove excess polish by brushing with a horsehair shine brush and buff to a desired shine. And as always, use cedar shoe trees to absorb moisture and maintain the shape of your shoes. 7 *Also available in the Cordovan Collection. See page 15.

In 2010, Allen Edmonds participated in a Suits for Soldiers Event with custom clothier Hunter & Lords. The idea was to help veterans outfit themselves for re-entry into the workforce. Here is a thank you from Daniel Grime, Army, 2nd Battalion 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment 82nd Airborne Division, Sergeant: I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your efforts with regards to Suits & Shoes for Soldiers. I know you said not to say thank you, but I want you to know how much I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule and also using your skills to do something good for service members. Personally, I don’t expect a single person to even say thank you to me for my service. I simply view it as something I had to do and something I wanted to do; I just did my job. However, you have managed to go above and beyond anything I ever imagined anyone would do for me as a show of gratitude. After seeing what you’ve done for service members, I am convinced that a person doesn’t have to wear a camouflage uniform to be counted among the ranks of great Americans. I never imagined someone would do something for me like you have. I am truly humbled, and I would like to not only thank you for the great shoes you have made for me but also for being a great American company who truly supports our troops with not only your words, but more importantly with your actions. Michael D. Miller My father was in the retail business with Mercantile Stores for 40 years. He owned 16 chains of department stores across America. About 10 years ago, they were bought out by another major chain. Not only did I watch my father wear, shine, and have his shoes recrafted, they were a symbol of pride everywhere he walked. He also taught me discipline and pride in taking care of my belongings. Every Wednesday and Saturday, I watched my father take his shoes downstairs to shine. My father always told me he could tell the kind of man you were by the way you took care of your shoes.

I was especially pleased that Allen Edmonds brought back the McAllister from the Timeless Classics Collection, which reminds me so much of my father every time I put them on. In my 25 years of professional life, I have only worn Allen Edmonds shoes. Today, I have 5 pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes in my closet and am grateful to Allen Edmonds for saving one of the fondest memories I have of my father and my past. TIMELESS CLASSICS COLLECTION In 2009, we sat down and reread our consumer mail. We also read articles, “Tweets,” Facebook postings and fashion blogs (welcome to the digital age!). We noticed our loyal customers had one recurring question…why can’t we bring back some of their favorite styles? So, in early 2009 we re-introduced several of our historically best-selling shoes based on countless requests from customers, and the response has been overwhelming! These shoes have tapped into a global movement toward classic American styling.

New re-introductions to the Timeless Classics Collection for spring include the Sanford and Strawfut. The Sanford, a blucher cap-toe with brogue detail, was first introduced to the Allen Edmonds line in 1989. The Strawfut was popularized in the 1940s and 1950s for its nylon mesh that allows air to flow throughout the shoe, keeping customers’ feet cool and comfortable during hot summer days. Please keep your recommendations and ideas coming. We appreciate hearing from you – digitally or via mail.

CORDOVAN COLLECTION Many people mistake cordovan as a color, but it is actually a rare kind of leather. Our cordovan leather is sourced from Horween, a Chicagobased tannery established in 1905 and one of the last remaining – and arguably one of the finest – cordovan tanneries in the world. Cordovan is especially popular throughout Europe where men don a pair of cordovan shoes, not just for work, but also as their Sunday best “church shoes.”

Grayson 8287  Burgundy Shell Cordovan (Pictured)

Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its different properties. To remove any natural oils or residue in areas where the shoe flexes, and to maintain the leather’s quality, simply brush the leather with a horsehair shine brush or wipe with a cotton flannel polishing cloth. Polish occasionally with Allen Edmonds Cordovan Care Cream to protect the leather and maintain its rich color. To see a video on caring for cordovan, go to allenedmonds.com or youtube.com and search “Allen Edmonds caring for cordovan.”

270˚ WELTS COLLECTION 270° welted construction reveals a more tapered heel for a sleek look compared to the heel of a traditional 360° welt. A PORON™-padded heel provides instant, out-of-the-box comfort, and a heated cork layer in the forepart offers a custom, orthoticlike fit. Finally, we don’t use a metal shank in our shoes, which enhances the flexibility, allowing for natural

movement while walking. And just like our 360° shoes, the shoes in our 270° welt collection are fully Recraftable. The Carlsbad makes its debut in the spring line as a sleek penny loafer constructed using our 270° welting technique for a tighter heel. Woven detailing on the vamp makes this shoe a quintessential style for your spring wardrobe.

ITALIAN COLLECTION Allen Edmonds has been making great American shoes since 1922 in Port Washington, Wisconsin. As our business grew, we were asked long ago to supply classic Italian-made shoes to many Italian clothiers in the United States, which is why we offer a line of handcrafted Italian slip-ons for the Allen Edmonds Man with European flair. We continue this great tradition and are proud to present our Italian styles for the man who wants a classic Italian slip-on and appreciates great value. Classic Italian details and sleek silhouettes define this collection of shoes. New to the Italian Collection for spring is the Positano, a Venetianstyle slip-on crafted with woven embossed leather and a leather sole. This spring, we’re pleased to announce that all of the styles in our Italian Collection can now be refurbished through our exclusive Recrafting® service. See page 46 for more information.

Dr. Thomas Czarnecki Dr. Thomas Czarnecki, a podiatrist, first learned about Allen Edmonds from one of his patients when he was having frustrations with another brand. He visited the Port Washington Allen Edmonds location and went home with a new pair of custom-fit shoes. He’s been a fan ever since…in fact, he currently owns 25 pairs of AE shoes! Dr. Czarnecki recommends Allen Edmonds to many of his patients for a variety of reasons. In addition to their unmatched quality and durability, AE shoes are available in many lengths, widths and styles. They are also great for accommodating orthotics, which Dr. Czarnecki often prescribes. He has yet to find a patient who hasn’t loved his new shoes. in box indicates Shoe Size Chart #.

The Allen Edmonds Dress Orthotics Collection combines the very best features of our classic shoes with convenient removable footbeds, which allow you to insert your own custom orthotics for a custom fit. And even if you don’t have custom orthotics, the footbeds add a layer of comfort for all-day wear. The Parliament is a dress cap-toe balmoral with perfing detail and a dress rubber sole that resembles leather. The Benton is a classic cap-toe blucher with a rubber sole for functionality. The Larkin is a penny loafer slip-on, also designed with a dress rubber sole for all weather conditions. It is constructed using a 270° welt for a narrower heel. The Ashton, a long-time customer favorite from our Casual Collection, also features removable footbeds to accommodate orthotics. For a more casual alternative, see the Bozeman on page 31, a slip-on with removable footbeds and a rubber sole.

FEATURES

Our shoes in the Dress Orthotics Collection are manufactured using the same construction processes as our other shoes. The Parliament, Ashton and Benton are 360° Goodyear welted styles and the Larkin is a 270° welted style. All four shoes can go through the Recrafting® process. All of the styles in the Dress Orthotics Collection use the same premium leathers and materials that are used in all Allen Edmonds shoes, regardless of their construction.

C A SUAL COLLECTION Even an Allen Edmonds Man has some downtime. He enjoys it in leisurely comfort with shoes from the Allen Edmonds Casual Collection. Rubber soles, casual leathers and comfort features abound in this versatile collection.

Bob Moore About a minute or so into Bob Moore’s flight home from a business trip in New York, he heard a loud bang come from one side of the plane. The plane began to shake, then all the mechanics shut down, creating an eerie silence. Suddenly he hears the pilot’s voice over the PA, “Brace for impact,” then the flight attendants began to chant, “Bend and brace. Bend and brace.” Even though he was preparing for the worst, a calm came over him as he prayed for himself, his wife, children and grandchildren. After the impact, Mr. Moore looked around and realized he had survived without much more than a few scratches and bruises. Immediately, the plane’s doors were opened and water began to seep down the aisle of the plane. By the time he got to the wing, the water was up to the top of his favorite pair of Allen Edmonds shoes. By the time the ferry arrived, he was up to his waist in the frigid Hudson River. Despite the ordeal he had been through, when he returned home, Mr. Moore found himself thinking about his ruined Allen Edmonds shoes and how disappointed he was that he could no longer wear his favorite pair; a true testament to his loyalty and passion for Allen Edmonds.

FEATURES The Allen Edmonds Casual Collection offers a broad range of styles to fit every lifestyle. For customers with a more casual lifestyle, the Casual Collection works every day of the week. Plus the slip-on styles make traveling through airport security that much easier. Several different lasts are used in the collection to give our shoes distinctive shapes and silhouettes for varying looks. And like our Classic Collection, they are available in a broad range of sizes. Many of the styles in the Casual Collection incorporate all-weather rubber soles for added comfort and durability.

Elgin

This spring, see a sneak preview of the new Allen Edmonds Rough Collection with two styles available in March, the McTavish and Elgin. These 360° welted shoes are made in the U.S.A. with waxy leathers for a casual, distressed look and double oak leather soles that are classic Americana and making a resurgence in men’s fashion.

CONSTRUCTION Allen Edmonds handsewns are truly sewn by hand. Skilled artisans sew the vamp to the upper and the kicker by hand, ensuring the two pieces of leather are aligned and sewn correctly to create the perfect fit. This process takes more time and requires more effort, but it’s the right way to make a handsewn shoe, so that’s how we do it at Allen Edmonds. The handsewns featured in the Casual Collection use a tubular moc construction. This technique allows the lower Eastport leather to be pulled up around the last and stitched to the shoes and belt upper leather, resulting in an extremely comfortable and flexible shoe. As with other Allen Edmonds shoes, we proudly source only the finest quality leathers. The Allen Edmonds calfskin leather used in this collection has tighter pores than most competitive leathers, resulting in shoes that hold a shine better, are more durable and resist wrinkling. The Casual Collection offers a range of durable rubber soles for added comfort and longer-lasting wear in all weather conditions. Available soles are listed next to each shoe and can be viewed on pages 53-54 of the catalog. Allen Edmonds is the largest cobbler in the world. We recrafted roughly 60,000 pairs of shoes in 2010 in our Port Washington, Wisconsin facility. PHASE I For men just beginning their entrĂŠe into the professional world, knowing what shoes and clothing are needed is critical to their success in making a strong first impression. Phase I recommends a portfolio of shoes and suggested pants pairings to get a head start in dressing for the job you want.

LaSalle in Chili Burnished Calf with Wide Basic Dress Belt

PHASE I Establishing Your Quality Standards You know the adage, “dress for the job you want, not the job you have.” It is important to establish your standards of quality early in your career. To achieve this, start with two pairs of classic business shoes for the office, black and brown lace-ups with leather soles. Then add a stylish pair of black loafers that transition from the office to a night out. And complete your wardrobe with a pair of casual yet sophisticated shoes or boots to wear on the weekends.

PHASE II Developing Your Image As you progress in your career, your shoe collection should expand with your wardrobe. In addition to classic business shoes, you should add styles to match your tastes, like a woven loafer, to further develop your personal and professional image. For weekends, consider versatile casual styles that take you from the office to the weekend.

PHASE III Seasoned Professional You’ve reached the pinnacle of your career and are now a seasoned professional. You have built your clothing wardrobe to complement all the different roles you play, which should also include a more comprehensive shoe wardrobe. At this point in your career, you are setting the tone in the office and can be a bit more adventurous by adding styles like a pair of cordovan shoes, two-tone spectators, driving mocs and other casual styles.

In 2009 we introduced ae by Allen Edmonds to bring a collection of shoes into our line at a more accessible price point. The Weekend Collection was well-received by customers who wanted Allen Edmonds quality at an affordable price. For spring, we’ve added a number of new styles to the Weekend Collection to expand your spring wardrobe. Highway 1 in Black Milled RustiCalf

Tim McGuire Tim McGuire just recently became an AE Man. Last summer he needed to find an attractive, comfortable pair of dress shoes to wear with his tux for his daughter’s wedding. On a friend’s recommendation, he bought his first pair of Allen Edmonds shoes.

Highway 1 in Black Milled RustiCalf 29

Although he normally wears inserts for extra arch support in his shoes, he didn’t use inserts in his Allen Edmonds shoes the day of the wedding. He was on his feet for nearly 12 hours straight between father-of-the-bride duties, photos, visiting with friends and family and, later on, dancing the night away. In spite of this, he woke up the next morning feeling great – none of the back pain he usually dealt with after a long day on his feet. As all AE Men know, a great pair of shoes makes all the difference.

WEEKEND COLLECTION The weekend is a time to unwind, enjoy moments with the family and relax. The Allen Edmonds Man can put his feet up in boat shoes and driving mocs from the ae by Allen Edmonds Weekend Collection. New styles include the Highway 1 and Route 100, casual

driving moccasins with rubber soles appropriate for the weekend, and the Infield, a casual shoe similar to the Sandlot featuring distressed leather and red stitching to mimic worn baseballs and embroidered with MLB® team logos.

Arnold Cohen – Allen Edmonds Saved Me!

Ashbury in Teak Distressed Leather

In October 2010, I was visiting Chicago and while stepping into the back of a cab the cabbie started driving, causing the rear tire to scrape up against the back of my foot. To my surprise after getting out of the cab, the Goodyear Welted shoes were barely even damaged (only a crease in the back to prove the collision occurred and they didn’t even need a shine!). I was so grateful that I went to the Michigan Avenue store and bought another pair (even though it was somewhat painful to be fitted). My doctor thinks had I not been wearing such a quality shoe, surely my tendon would have been torn, my ankle broken or worse. I now have 3 pairs of Allen Edmonds and cannot imagine wearing anything else.

BOOT COLLECTION Every man should have a pair of boots in his wardrobe. Whether you prefer a boot that’s a little dressier, such as the Malvern or Bayfield, or a boot with a more distressed look, like the Ashbury, the Allen Edmonds Boot Collection offers a range of styles to fit all tastes.

Allen Edmonds boots are made using the same high-quality materials and attention to detail that go into all of our shoes, and their classic appeal ensures they won’t go out of style as trends change. The Bayfield, a nod to our popular boot offered in the 1990s, is a seven-eyelet cap-toe blucher boot with a mini-lug rubber sole for ideal wear in all weather conditions. The Malvern is a classic chukka boot with three eyelets and a rubber sole. Available in Brown Burnished Calf, Brown Grain Calf and Brogue Suede, the Malvern is the quintessential boot to complete your fall wardrobe. And finally, the Ashbury is a Chelsea boot with modern distressed leather, double side gore and a rubber sole.

FEATURES

The three boots featured in our Boot Collection are made using our traditional welted construction process. With a 212-step production process, not a detail is missed or a stitch overlooked. All of our boots are constructed using our 360° welt process, which leads to boots that are durable and can be put through our exclusive Recrafting® process when they show signs of wear.

BELT COLLECTION The Allen Edmonds Belt Collection features a range of styles from dress to casual to complement any look in your wardrobe. And our belts are hand-finished to precisely match the unique palette of colors used in our line of shoes. See page 56 for recommended belts to correspond with every shoe in our line.

BELT BASICS The Allen Edmonds belt collection contains genuine leather belts that are hand-finished to color-match Allen Edmonds shoes. Allen Edmonds offers a wide range of belts from dress to casual that provides all the options customers need for their wardrobes. Belts are available in several standard sizes and in special order sizes to fit virtually all waists.

Strand with Manistee Belt

PICK THE RIGHT BELT We receive many customer questions about belt fashion, so we thought we’d offer our expertise. To maintain a professional appearance, men should always wear a genuine leather belt to the office. very man should have at least two E belts in his collection: a basic black leather belt and a basic brown leather belt. A black belt should be worn with black shoes and a brown belt paired with brown shoes. Under no circumstances should a brown belt be paired paired with black shoes, or vice versa. To look even more fashionable, belt colors and patterns should coordinate with shoe colors and Lucca with patterns. To determine belt size, simply go up one Dress Bridle Belt or two sizes from the waist size of your pants. The tail of the belt should easily pass through the first belt loop on your pants, but it should not extend too far past the belt loop.

Our members really appreciate the club as a place to relax, socialize and entertain guests. That’s why in 2009 I requested custom cedar shoe trees for our locker rooms. We put our club logo on the cedar shoe trees and had the member’s name and locker number engraved on the trees. Not only is this a very professional look, but the locker room attendants appreciated that they could easily match the golf shoes to the member. I have to admit, the cedar shoe trees provided a terrific fragrance as well. In 2010 I went a step further and had my key coworkers travel to the Allen Edmonds factory to get fitted for dress shoes. Our folks are on their feet most of the day and I want them look great and feel great. I am very appreciative of the Allen Edmonds Master shoe fitting service and cedar innovation they developed for us.

SERVICES “Allen Edmonds is a great company. I have owned their shoes for years. I was particularly impressed by my most recent Recrafting experience and the way they incorporated ‘new marketing technology’. When the shoes were mailed, the form was not included, but our home phone number was. They called and captured all the information they needed. Also appreciated their email updates on the completion status and loved the final touch - at the time they mailed my shoes they emailed me a picture of my ‘newly’ Recrafted shoes. Talk about a firstclass company!” – M. M.

45

“I am periodically stunned at the conduct of an American company like Allen Edmonds, its product and its service after purchase. I have never been disappointed.” -A. H. “I just wanted to say thank you! I have to tell you, the shoes have been done beautifully and feel great to wear. I can’t wait ‘til all my other Allen Edmonds’ wear out and need repairing. Please pass on this message to the good people who do this work.” -A. S.

Allen Edmonds shoes are so well-made that we can RECRAFTING actually return them to their original glory with our exclusive Recrafting process. ®

Recrafting is far more than simple shoe repair. Using the original manufacturing process, we literally rebuild worn footwear from the bottom up. With five packages to choose from, Recrafting is the perfect way to give new life to old shoes. Beginning this spring, all of the styles in our Italian Collection can now go through our exclusive Recrafting service. Due to the construction methods and materials used, some modifications are required in the Recrafting of Italian shoes. Prestige Package – Our Prestige Package is a complete restoration. We begin by replacing soles, heels, welting, cork footbeds and laces. Next, we completely refinish the uppers, hand-polishing the leather to a vibrant glow. Finally, we add aromatic cedar shoe trees, place shoes in protective shoe bags and include a Premium Polish. The results are nothing short of remarkable. 757  Prestige Package

Standard Package – Standard Recrafting is identical to our Prestige Package. Shoes are completely refurbished and the results are equally impressive. Here we simply omit the cedar shoe trees, flannel shoe bags and Premium Polish. 752  Standard Package Refinishing – With Refinishing, we demonstrate the enduring quality of Allen Edmonds leather in our ability to reinstate its former brilliance. Built-up layers of wax, polish and dye are stripped away. The original color is restored and protective finishes are applied. Finally, we wax and polish shoes to a high shine. 751  Refinishing (New soles are not included.) 758  Casual Comfort Collection® Refinishing Package (Includes new removable footbeds. New soles are not included.) New Heels – Even in our most basic Recrafting process, minute details matter. After removing worn heels, we replace them with new leather heel bases and Allen Edmonds rubber top lifts.* Next, we trim the heels, and ink and burnish the edges before returning the shoes with this small, but significant, improvement. 750  New Heels (New soles are not included.) * This process is not available for full rubber sole/heel shoes.

New Heels + Refinishing Package – The New Heels + Refinishing Package combines two of our most popular Recrafting services. Worn heels will be replaced with new leather heel bases and rubber top lifts.* Then, we put your shoes through our extensive Refinishing process to remove builtup layers of wax and polish and restore the original color to your shoes. Finally, we wax and polish your shoes to a high shine. 761  New Heels + Refinishing Package *This process is not available for full rubber sole/heel shoes.

See a demonstration video of Allen Edmonds Recrafting at allenedmonds.com/recrafting. Prior work on Allen Edmonds shoes by other cobblers may prevent us from Recrafting a pair of shoes. Due to special construction methods, our driving moccasins, Casual Comfort Collection®, Crosstown Collection and some handsewn and woven styles cannot be Recrafted. Obsolete Vibram® or rubber soles will be replaced with current soles. To properly preserve their unique materials, suede and nubuck shoes will be cleaned rather than refinished. Recrafting is a registered trademark of Allen Edmonds Shoe Corporation.

Dr. Leonard Berlin Over the years I have bought, and now only own, Allen Edmonds shoes. From the very beginning, I thought they were the best, and now, after so many years, I still feel the same. When I recently received my pair of recrafted Allen Edmonds shoes, I was thrilled with them as they looked absolutely brand new. I must admit that before I sent them to the factory, they looked so shoddy (from long-time wear and tear, not from their original production) that I only wore them around the house rather than publicly at work. I figured I had nothing to lose by sending them in for Recrafting. I was amazed to see how my shoes turned out and am very pleased with the results. I have just one small criticism: Allen Edmonds uses the motto, “The Great American Shoe Company.” I think this is clearly inaccurate. You should change it to, “Allen Edmonds: The GREATEST American Company.” 46

CUSTOMER SERVICE

180,000! That’s a big number, and it’s the average number of calls any one of our fantastic customer service representatives has fielded during their tenure to date. The customer service team is based in our Port Washington headquarters and they service wholesale account needs as well as consumer needs. They know every shoe style we have ever made, along with its sole, laces, last and color. When walking past their offices, it’s common to hear them chatting with customers they have served over the years. Sometimes they even ask about a customer’s children…by name! It takes a lot of work to build a great shoe, but quality is often just the “greens fee” to compete. Phenomenal customer service truly sets a brand apart from competitors. Please enjoy these excerpts from the many letters and emails we receive from satisfied customers. Please contact Customer Service with any questions or comments: 1-800-235-2348

“I am writing to express my gratitude and appreciation to Allen Edmonds for the recent service I received. I want to share with you how fantastic your people are! For my entire professional career, I have been a loyal owner of Allen Edmonds dress shoes. I recently wanted to replace my favorite shoes (Halsted in Black), but they had been discontinued. I called customer service with little hope, but the representative told me that, in fact, a replacement shoe could be made. To my complete surprise, my new shoes arrived two weeks later. I may not be your best customer in terms of the number of pairs I own, but I can assure you that I am your most satisfied customer! I have told this story a hundred times and will share it for many years to come. In my position, our informal motto is ‘it’s all about the people.’ My experience with Allen Edmonds will make its way into our customer service training program. As President and CEO, you should know that your people are fantastic.” – R. J.

“I have dealt extensively with your customer service department, mostly dealing with one particular representative, for nearly a year now. On each occasion, she has been extremely professional and has gone above and beyond to satisfy my customers. It is a welcome pleasure to deal with someone so dedicated to her job, especially in today’s retail environment. Congratulations on setting your customer service standards at such a high level.” – K. W.

“I just wanted to write and let you know how extremely happy I am with your attention regarding my shoe issue. I have been a loyal AE customer for 10-15 years and will be a customer for life as I have NEVER received better customer service than I experienced with you folks. You are truly an understanding and efficient organization.” – P. C.

“Thanks again for your excellent customer service and for resolving my situation beyond my wildest expectations. I am using your customer service model as an example of how my team should respond to requests, inquiries and issues they may have with our own products.” – T. T.

“I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to express my appreciation for the exceptional professional service I received. Being in the technology world for 30 years, I’ve had the opportunity to purchase shoes from many shoemakers and work with many customer service representatives. Your folks demonstrated a level of service that one usually only hears about in marketing campaigns. Every shoe manufacturer and retail store says their service is unequaled and that customers’ expectations will be exceeded. We all know this is rarely true, but Allen Edmonds can be proud that its representatives have proven that unequaled excellence in customer service can be achieved. I would highly recommend Allen Edmonds to my business associates, friends and anyone looking for a quality company and exceptional customer service.” – G. O.

“I am writing to let you know about the extraordinary level of customer service I recently received at Allen Edmonds. I’ve been an AE customer for 20 years, and while the service at AE is typically well above average, my most recent interaction was exceptional. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how tough things are out there in the land of retail, and having such high quality people working for you is a major plus for your company – especially in a world with plenty of other choices for shoes. Your customer service makes paying for your product seem like a great value – because you’re getting more than just a pair of shoes.” – D. L. 48

Greg Smith - O’Connors We have been dressing Calgary’s elite men and women for more than 50 years. We recognized the need for a shoe store offering the same level of personalized service. That vision was realized in 1986. Allen Edmonds was a featured key brand – a little known name in the area at that time. Our customers quickly recognized the quality and craftsmanship of Allen Edmonds. The brand immediately shot to dominance and has never relinquished the top spot in the past 25 years. Combining Allen Edmonds reliability, customer service and quick deliveries with our attention to detail and outstanding sales team, we became one of Allen Edmonds’ top independent accounts within a very short period of time. In 2010 we enjoyed our biggest single Allen Edmonds sales year ever. We attribute this achievement to the continued premium quality and value customers have come to love from Allen Edmonds and O’Connors.

Here is everything your customers need to protect and maintain their shoes for longwearing comfort. SUPPORT / LASTS Part of what makes Allen Edmonds footwear so unique is the wide variety of lasts we use to build our shoes. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the foot’s contours, customers can achieve a superior fit. Watch a video of the fitting process on the media page of allenedmonds.com to learn how an Allen Edmonds Master Fitter can help you get a perfect fit.

Goodyear Welted Styles There are ten different lasts used to manufacture our current welted footwear, or those styles designated by a four-digit number. The last number is the same as the style’s final digit.

8 Last Modeled after the 4 last, but with more depth to accommodate the removable orthotic. (Ashton and Benton only)

0  Last  (000) A more pronounced cone and elongated forepart with a subtly clipped toe create a sleek silhouette.

234  Last Similar to the 7 last with a slightly more squared toe.

1  Last  (511) Similar to the 7 last from heel to ball; more rounded, fuller fitting toe.

222 Last Elongated toe with a slightly higher instep. Very similar to the 108 last.

5  Last  (65) Longest in length of our lasts; best for a long, narrow foot.

9  Last  (79) Tapered back portion pushes the foot forward to fit low across the top of the foot rather than the instep.

8  Last  (108) Elongated forepart with a tapered and flatter toe; similar to the 2 last.

7  Last  (97) Best fit for the average foot; lays flatter in the toe area.

73  Last Wider across the ball of the foot with more room over the instep.
