A Multifunctional Sculpture Courtyard
EXHIBITION COURTYARD DESIGN
PROJECT NARRATIVE Located in front of the Physical Sciences building, a busy and chaotic part of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater Campus. The site is a new plaza to incorporate a set of six glass sculptures made by Gorden Huether.
Taking into consideration that sculptures are made of glass, the concrete walls act as a simple background to emphasize the polychrome glass and to show the dynamic shadows cast by the sun hitting the colored glass.
The challenge is on the existing complex trail system and the chaotic parking lot. Students need a new plaza, capable of reorganizing the pedestrian flow into three different entrances toward the Physical Sciences building and to create a clear boundary between the plaza and the parking lot.
The result, incorporating these five concepts is defined as an Exhibition Wall System, a hybrid landscape which is a multilevel and multi-purpose space that can be used for visiting, studying, and performing within the space.
the design form provides accessible circulation, and clarify the different trails leading to the different entrances. Vertical elements are created to divide the site and integrate the new trail system. Trees and lights are incorporated to provide a dynamic shadow creating a unique view and experience of Gorden Huether’s art works. The placement of the trees, run parallel to the strips of concrete walls that run through the site, creating a variety of spatial experiences and seating opportunities.

Synthetic Chemistry, showing the connection between of the cells, is used in the cross road to indicate the interact trail system. Photonics has a fluent texture, which will refract the light to provide the illumination of the event lawn.
Bioforensics, the most typical case of the sculptures, is settled in the entrance representing this sculpture courtyard.

Biogeophysics has a pattern of a transittion from clam to dynamic, which can be the best case to show the exhibition.
Biodiversity, a great example of symmetrical, will show the aesthetics of balance.
Biophysics, the most dynamic one will be settled with biodiversity to show the contrast between balance and chaotic.
Space Arrangement
Wall Categories
Use sitting walls and regular 8’ walls to enclose the entrance area and block the noises from the existing parking lot.
Circulation Analysis Tall walls are settled tightly to each other to build a peaceful transition to clam down from the chaotic parking lot
The tour of the sculpture gallery starts after the first branch appeared while people walking in the alley.
When visitors arrive the end of the alley, they discovered a secret event lawn hiding behind the tall alley walls.
Illumination Analysis
This tall wall is built in glass to act as a background for the sculpture but also provide adequate transparency.
A quiet corner enclosed by sitting walls to hold the sculptures and clearify the courtyard boundary.

RECREATION WATER PARK DESIGN Project Period: 4 Weeks Studio 3: Open Space and Recreation Scale: 20 Acres 16
PROJECT NARRATIVE Located west of Stillwater, the site is now comprised of 2 retention ponds, a recreational trail system, and a research center. To transform this natural prairie into a new landmark recreation park, which will target all residents, students, and athletes, a new coherent and integrated trail system will connect the new proposed feature elements. To give the new park enough activities to achieve client’s demands, 5 missions are developed on the site, Wellness mission, Social mission, Image mission, Environmental mission, and Educational mission. These goals turn out to be a business plaza, dining pavilion, food truck patio, recreation center and a running trail, which are integrated by a wooden ramp throughout the entire site. In the heart of the site, integrating the ramp and running trail, the main amphitheatre is designed as a threshold of the business plaza to provide most activities an appropriate stage. Also, the area above the water is designed as decks to create the possibility for visitors to explore and interact with the water body.

Project Narrative Nka Foundation invites submissions of creative projects throughout the year in Abetenim, Central Ghana. The sustainable development includes our cooperative structure, maximum use of local resources, and openness to international participation for technology transfer by their works with the younger generations in the communities we are a part. Thus, we have an open door to the multiplicity of expressions in the arts from around the world. As an addition to the Sankufa Community center, A community park is built to provide villagers an opportunity for resting, interacting, and performing. Holding only 200 dollars budget, the park is mainly around design with local recyclable materials like bamboos and stones. To solving the drainage issue in the raining season, the site topography is changed slightly and the red clay layer is replaced with higher infiltration rated black soil. A verity of plants are also incorporated to provide more shades outdoors, create outdoor activity opportunities and prevent erosion on the naked earth.

A ecological community design for 500 Syrian Refugee in America
INTERNATIONAL REFUGEE CRISIS STILLWATER 1%
PROJECT NARRATIVE The escalating Syrian civil war has caused over 4 million Syrian refugees to flee their homeland. A large percentage of them are children. In this design, City of Stillwater is taking in 1% of tehir population, 500 refugees and providing them a designed communities for a three-year period.
In this design, based on the large family size of Syrian refugees, 60 high density single family housing units are developed as major housing type, two modern apartment towers with commercial use and shopping mall at the lower level will also provide residential opportunities to single people and young adults. Making sure the refugees can get food, education and employment, a language school, a shopping area, a clinic, and a series of agriculture based structure are developed on site.
The green houses, the cropland and orchards are designed near a natural swell in order to reuse the stormwater for irrigation. A farmers market is also designed near the entrance allowing refugees to sell their products. In order to achieve a harmonious environment between the proposed community and nature, all the housing are settled in the core of the site. The riparian buffer has been widened acting as a corridor to connect wildlife patches.

ITALIAN HISTROIC TOWNSHIP RENOVATION
Project Period: 3 Weeks Studio 5: Urban Design Scale: 5 Acres
PROJECT NARRATIVE Located in a troditional historical Italian town, Rivarolo Canavese, trying to connect a new proposed community center to the urban texture and better solve the existing chaotic pedestrain experience, The master-plan attempts to control pedestrian and vehicular traffic in response to the dangerous condition involving the Via San Francesco D’Assissi. a curving street with almost nonexistent sidewalks. Due to its proximity to the elementary school, a blindcurve is created as the road is obscured by the building mass. This ‘solution facilitates safe access to the elementary school by treating the road as a bridge.

harm to pedestrians is averted by isolating vehicular traffic in a solitary realm. The presences of vehicles is removed from the general setting of the plaza; this allows pedestrians to participate in activities unfettered by many of the inconveniences associated with the necessity of sharing urban spaces with automobiles.By forcing pedestrian activities underground isolated with the groundlevel vihicular bridge, people have more possibilities to enjoy undisterbued safe pedestrian experience.Open up the ceiling to provide sunlight, ventilationand and greenspace to the underground piazza and provide a less restrianed experience.
