’Tis the Season… for Proper Immune Support! Supportive strategies for the fall and winter months

The fall and winter months bring shorter days, longer nights, cozying down, drinking hot beverages, spending more time indoors with loved ones… and infections.1,2 But becoming ill—whether mildly or, in the worst cases, perilously—during this time is not a foregone conclusion. There are many lifestyle, dietary, and nutraceutical interventions that have been scientifically shown to enhance prevention, and reduce the duration and severity, of common fall and winter infections.

In this issue of FOCUS, we look at a common seasonal illness, the flu, as well as an acute infection that can sometimes develop from it, pneumonia. Additionally, we look at postinfectious cough—a nagging cough not commonly discussed, but helpful to know about. Post-infectious cough can sometimes linger for months and can be a major nuisance not only to the individual suffering, but also to those around them—particularly at night when it interrupts everyone’s sleep.

Finally, Linda Isaacs, MD, discusses the benefits of hypothalamus glandular therapy, including how the hypothalamus works and how this glandular can be used in clinical applications.
