What to Expect the First Day
C
heck-in will be from 8:45 a.m. — 9:00 a.m.
On the first day, students may be dropped-off along the Fine Arts Building entrance in the bus zone on Genesee Street. Parking is available in the CVHS parking garage at the front of the building for students who plan to drive themselves. Please refer to the map on P.11. A Conservatory staff member will be in the theatre lobby to check-in each student and to hand out name tags. The first day will begin with a short orientation and introduction of the Conservatory faculty. Parents are welcome to stay for orientation, however it is completely optional. Every day will end at 4:00 p.m., at which point, students will sign-out with a Conservatory staff member. Students may either be picked-up in the bus zone on Genesee Street or leave from the CVHS Parking Garage.

Attendance Procedures
S
tudents can be dropped-off and picked-up in the bus zone on Genesee Street. The entrance is on West Dallas Street. (Please see attached map)
No parking is allowed in the bus zone; it is for pick-up and drop-off only. But you may park in the parallel parking lane on West Grey or in the CVHS Parking Garage. If your student is driving him/herself, please contact Zachary Bryant at zacharyb@alleytheatre.org or 713-315-5424. All Conservatory students will need to sign-in and sign-out in the theatre lobby. Absences are strongly discouraged, but in the event that your student must arrive late, leave early, or be absent, please notify Zachary Bryant immediately by calling 713-315-5424. Please check your calendars and submit any foreseeable absences in writing to Zachary Bryant on the first day of the Conservatory.

What to Bring
W
ater � Drinking fountains are available, but we encourage all students to bring their own water
bottles. The Conservatory is a focused environment and walking in and out of class for water is an unnecessary distraction.
S
nack & Lunch Food � Please bring snacks and a lunch. Students will not be dismissed to go off-site for lunch.
Vending machines and microwaves will not be available, so please keep that in mind when choosing your lunch items.
It is very important that you inform us of any allergies that may impact your ability to participate in the Conservatory. Make sure we have an Emergency Contact Form on file for your student.

What to Wear
C
omfortable, closed-toe shoes � Students will be participating in a variety of active theatre
exercises and artistic endeavors, so being able to move around freely and safely is extremely important. Please wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable attire appropriate for movement.
C
lothing � You need to be free to express yourselves! Dancewear, exercise clothes, pants and t-shirts are allowed.
Low-cut shirts and skirts are not allowed. We will provide alternatives if this is an issue. The CVHS theatre can be very drafty and cold at times, so please bring a sweater or sweatshirt. You can keep a gym bag within the theatre if necessary. If you have back or neck issues, please bring a towel to use for floor exercises.

The Alley Theatre will not be responsible for any lost items of clothing.
Emergencies and Medical Needs
E
mergency Forms - The health and safety of your child is very important to us. Please make sure to turn in your Medical Release forms by the first day of Conservatory, at the latest.
Medical or Other Concerns - It is important for us to be aware of any medical concerns that could hinder a student’s performance, such as sports injuries, asthma, or other condition that might need attention. We will also need a written action plan that details any symptoms and what is to be done in the case of an emergency. Illness - Please keep in mind that if you have flu-like symptoms that it might be wise to stay at home. Medication - Unless a student is having an allergic reaction, the Alley Conservatory staff is unable to administer any type of medication during classes. If your student needs medication, they must be able to administer it themselves. Parents can also arrange for someone to come to the theatre to administer medication. The only exception to this is in the case of an allergic reaction.
