Los Angeles has been seeing some of the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, both within the US and globally. Our team is classed as essential workers so we’re continuing to operate, but have been adhering to our strictest COVID-19 safety measures, limiting our exposure to the community and any interactions off base, other than at our partners’ work sites.

Our team has kept their spirits high with multiple holiday celebrations (Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa). Prior to the LA Food Bank closing for the holidays, they attended two drive thru food distributions, where over 6,600 boxes of food were distributed to families in need. Both work sites, LA Food Bank and the CORE COVID-19 testing site are now back up and running, and the team continues to contribute to the health and safety of LA County on a daily basis.

Partner Spotlight A huge thank you to Redfora for their generous donation of 500 Everyday Sanitizer Sets. The sets include a bottle of hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes and tissues; all of which can be crucial in preventing transmission of COVID-19 and keeping people safe. Our team decided to deliver the sets to the Skid Row Strategies Team for the City of Los Angeles, which provides services to address local homelessness. The sets will be distributed to community members who are homeless and in need of these essential items to help stay safe. 5,000 people live in Skid Row and there is a high level of need. We’re grateful to Redfora for the incredibly useful products and glad we’ve been able to make local connections to distribute them where needed. Learn about our programs at

Disaster Profile The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause significant impact to the Los Angeles (LA), California county area. To date, there are more than 765,000 confirmed cases, 10,120 deaths in LA County and the threat level is extreme — signifying that COVID-19 could overwhelm the community and health care system if not controlled.

Our Work Our team has been in Los Angeles since early July, working with new and existing partners to identify how we can be most effective in supporting the Los Angeles community through the COVID-19 crisis. More volunteers to assist with food distribution and back-of-house support for COVID-19 testing were identified as key, current COVID-19 related needs, and we are addressing these needs by increasing the capacity of partner organizations, LA Regional Food Bank and CORE. With approximately 30 volunteers, alongside the volunteers of our partners, we aim to assemble 35,000 emergency meal kits, distribute 55,000 meals to families in need and orchestrate 30,000 COVID-19 tests on a weekly basis.

About All Hands and Hearts We effectively and efficiently address the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. We communicate directly with local leaders and community members and then deploy our unique model of engaging volunteers to enable direct impact, helping to build safer, more resilient schools, homes and infrastructure. We have earned a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator for the seventh year in a row. This year only seven percent of rated non-profits received this distinction for financial and operational efficiency.
