MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Wow!

Posted Jan 9, 2005 | by David Campbell blog category: life-changing If a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, then this journey,

After Hurricane Katrina, Biloxi, MS: “When you gutted our houses, you ripped out despair and replaced it with Hope….”

starting with a single idea, may lead to many discoveries. The impact of such a massive disaster [in Thailand], occurring at a holiday season, spurred in all of us a wish to help. I will post here regularly before I leave, and hopefully daily while I am there.

We’ve truly become “the change you wish to see in the world.” Together, volunteers, donors and staff have invented a new model: pure, simple, hard-working & quirky.

Love love love my @AllHands Volunteers. @SaraBareilles

MESSAGE FROM MANAGING DIRECTOR

@AllHands you guys rock!

Having helped communities in need during 10 international and 17

To achieve our vision, we need partner networks in strategic areas that complement

domestic disaster responses is great—but we’ve learned a lot of

All Hands’ values and core competencies. Strong partnerships will help us effectively

lessons along the way!

engage in both domestic & international disasters.

Being more structured, better prepared & better able to react when disasters strike is our goal. Our new strategic plan will help to get us there! Months of surveys, interviews, data collecting & heart to hearts got us from there to here—but now we’re equipped with realistic goals, an action plan & a clear vision & mission. To read our strategic plan, go to our website at www.hands.org

@getaclewis

Our strategic plan has paved the way for some exciting changes. Domestically, we are developing a “rapid response” model, increasing the implementation of our Recovery Coordination Centers, and will be launching a training program focused on better preparing communities following disasters. Internationally, we plan to expand our capabilities by gradually establishing geographic offices in Asia, the Americas and Africa. The key ingredient, when all is said and done, is YOU! Everything we do is through your generous assistance.
