Working with two partner organizations, LA Food Bank and CORE, our volunteers recently surpassed one million pounds of food packed and 100,000 COVID-19 tests facilitated! Our team is also supporting other local organizations where possible. We provided 40 no-sew blankets for the Assistance League of Los Angeles “Blanket of Love” campaign and we’re in touch with the Director of Skid Row through the LA Mayor’s Office to plan future mask and sanitizer distributions. A Stay at Home Order has recently been issued for Los Angeles County; our team is classed as essential workers so we’re continuing to operate while adhering to COVID-19 Safety Measures.

Partner Spotlight A huge thank you to KEEN for generously donating 20,000 masks for distribution among the local communities we serve. We’re working with smaller nonprofits in Los Angeles County that assist underserved communities to ensure we’re distributing this Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the people most in need. To date, the organizations we have donated masks to include: Assistance League of Los Angeles, CORE, Mindful Veteran Project and The Place of Grace. We also created a small information sheet, with COVID-19 health and safety tips, to distribute with the masks.

Disaster Profile The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause significant impact to the Los Angeles (LA), California county area. To date, there are more than 400,000 confirmed cases, 7,700 deaths in LA County and the threat level remains high — signifying that COVID-19 could overwhelm the community and health care system if not controlled.

Our Work Our team has been in Los Angeles since early July, working with new and existing partners to identify how we can be most effective in supporting the Los Angeles community through the COVID-19 crisis. More volunteers to assist with food distribution and back-of-house support for COVID-19 testing were identified as key, current COVID-19 related needs, and we aim to address these needs by increasing the capacity of partner organizations, LA Regional Food Bank and CORE. With up to 30 volunteers, on a weekly basis, our goal is to assemble 35,000 emergency meal kits, distribute 55,000 meals to families in need and orchestrate 30,000 COVID-19 tests.

About All Hands and Hearts We effectively and efficiently address the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. We communicate directly with local leaders and community members and then deploy our unique model of engaging volunteers to enable direct impact, helping to build safer, more resilient schools, homes and infrastructure. We have earned a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator six years in a row and a Perfect 100. Less than one percent of rated nonprofits have received this distinction for financial and operational efficiency.
