Whether for a brand-new project or a revitalization effort, a lot of expertise is readily available to help achieve greater sustain ability at feasible costs. Money is often ultimately saved by initial brainstorming with the community and other relevant stakeholders while increasing the overall ecological, community and business value of the project.
Qu’il s’agisse d’un tout nouveau projet ou d’une initiative de revitalisation, ce n’est pas l’expertise qui manque pour accroître la durabilité à coût abordable. Dans bien des cas, des consultations préliminaires auprès de la communauté et d’autres intervenants concernés engendrent des économies et une valeur ajoutée sur le plan écologique, communautaire et opérationnel.

“The shoreline location of ports and terminals makes climate resilience of utmost importance – with them certainly having to consider the range of projections for sea level rise,” says Anthony Kane, president and CEO of the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI).
« La résilience climatique prend un sens bien particulier pour les ports et les terminaux, puisqu’ils sont situés directement sur le littoral. La plupart d’entre eux doivent envisager l’éventail des scénarios liés à la hausse du niveau marin », lance Anthony Kane, président-directeur général de l’Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI).
Celebrating its 10th year, ISI was formed by the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Public Works Association, and the American Council of Engineering Companies. “We realized the efficiencies we could provide by serving as a neutral clearinghouse for all aspects of a project where stakeholder consultation, consensus and collective action can produce a more sustainable approach and ultimately better project,” Kane says. ISI collaborated with Harvard University’s Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure to create the Envision framework. “The idea is to all work from the same most up-to-date established definitions of sustainability and its measurement,” 32
Cet institut a été créé il y a dix ans par l’American Society of Civil Engineers, l’American Public Works Association et l’American Council of Engineering Companies. « Nous avons vu à quel point nous pouvions accroître l’efficacité en offrant une sorte de zone neutre pour faire connaître les projets sous tous leurs angles et favoriser une approche plus durable en misant sur les consultations, le consensus et l’action collective », souligne M. Kane. L’ISI s’est associé au programme d’infrastructure durable Zofnass de la Harvard University pour créer le cadre Envision. « L’idée, c’est que tout le monde puisse travailler à partir d’un bassin commun de données et de mesures récentes en matière de durabilité, dit-il. À l’instar de l’Alliance verte, le
