Dallas is the place to be.

It’s summertime and Big D is a hotspot by any measure. For the first half of 2014 housing prices are at a record high, 8% above pre-recession 2007 and 20% ahead of 2009. Local home values are rising about twice as fast as a normal long term rate. But the price growth spurt is moderating. From 1984 - 2013, Texas home prices rose an average 3.2% annually. By the end of 2014, economists predict prices will stabilize, as will sales. Despite five straight declines in bond buying by the Federal Reserve, there are no plans to raise the short term rate so mortgages remain affordable. Inside Mortgage Finance says this one of the best times ever to shop for jumbo loans. Our firm in the first half of 2014 had 200 transactions over $1 million and 9 of 18 sales over $5 million. The luxury market is real and responding to our Texas and Dallas economy. According to the US Department of Commerce, Texas ranked 8th nationally for gross domestic product growth from 2012 to 2013. If Texas were a country, it would be the 13th largest GDP in the world. Our DFW area expects to grow to 10.5 million by 2040, employing more than 6.6 million in a well diversified economy and pro-business culture. Our housing market will respond to these needs with traditional single family homes, condos and townhomes. Forbes magazine rates Dallas as the #2 competitive metro area in the nation.
