MIXED MEDIA PAINTING NEW!
Anyone interested in mixed media artwork and especially painting - this course is for you! Basics of mixed media painting while using acrylics, watercolors, pens/pencils, and collages will be covered. Everyone will learn how to prepare surfaces (canvas, wood, paper) for collage, select and layering subject matter, and the ins and outs of drying and curing. GREAT WOMEN ARTISTS TO INSPIRE YOU! NEW!
Discover more about well-known female artists and the genre of art for which she is known. Each class will include some discussion on the historical context of each woman followed by the creation of your own original artwork based on the inspiration of the famous artist. Appropriate for all artistic abilities and levels. Choose your own supplies (water-based only, please). Can be watercolors, pencils, pastels, charcoal, and/ or acrylics. Mandala Workshop Series
Mandala simply means “circle” in Sanskrit and is a geometric design that holds a great deal of significance in ancient cultures. After a brief introduction about mandalas and their significance in traditional and modern cultures, the instructor will show students how to draw simple to somewhat complex mandala patterns using just a pencil, some paper, and the guides provided by the instructor. With an organic approach taken to creating mandala designs, no drawing skills or special tools are required in order to enjoy this class. All skill levels are welcome.
COLOR & DESIGN STUDIO
An ”open studio” type class. An engaging and inspiring experience intended to foster creativity and experimentation in an atmosphere of enthusiastic encouragement. Provides the perfect opportunity for artists with a basic understanding of drawing and color mixing to work in a supportive and creative atmosphere on works of their choosing. Instructor will be available for individualized informative technical and design instruction. Instructor will help students gain insights into their creative accomplishments, develop new skills and explore their preferred styles. All levels welcome. Most mediums welcome: watercolor, acrylic, gouache, casein, oil (using non-toxic solvent), graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, oil pastels (no soft pastels). Demos will be done in most of these mediums, explaining the advantages of each.

Intro To Abstract Art
Abstract art is considered one of the purest forms of expression as it allows the artist to freely communicate without the constraint of objective reality. You will learn different techniques and be encouraged to make up your own abstract art using a variety of mediums like pencils, colored pencils, pastels, and/or paints. LEARN TO KNIT NEW!
All of knitting is just two stitches, the knit stitch, and the purl stitch, and once you know those you can knit anything. Come learn about yarn weights, needle types and sizes, casting on, how to do knit and purl stitches, increases, decreases, and binding off, all while creating two useful washcloths. We will also cover what to do when good stitches go bad – an important part of any knitting project. Some supplies are included with the class fee. AEROMODELING: SKYLARK KIT NEW!
Mark is an expert aeromodeling designer, builder, and flyer with many first place wins in national and international competitions. In this class, students will build The Skylark, an all-balsa wood, rubber-powered airplane. Mark will provide instructions and assistance in putting this high performance outdoor model together and show you how to maximize your flight times. AEROMODELING: DRAGONFLY KIT NEW!
Mark designed this model 25 years ago and it has won in numerous competitions. It’s a very lightweight model that can be flown in gymnasiums or outdoors on calm days. It’s a rubber-powered “stick and tissue” model, using balsa wood and lightweight covering. Mark will show you how to adjust it for maximum flight times. Minors aged 8+ are welcome to register with the accompaniment of an adult guardian who must also register for the class. All class materials provided. No class on 5/12.

Clay Exploration
An opportunity for students of all skill levels to learn a variety of porcelain and stoneware techniques and to participate in a number of high fire and Raku firings as well as an obvara and soda glaze firings. Students purchase own clay.
Techniques For Handbuilding
Overview of handbuilding techniques with clay. Emphasis on problem solving; how to take a piece from conception to completion. Also explores creative process for those looking for new ideas for their clay work. Students purchase own clay.
FAMILY CLAY, POTTERY & HAND-BUILDING
Come create with clay in a fun, relaxed, and supportive environment. This two-day experience is taught by two local instructors teaming up to teach beginners handbuilding techniques and how to throw on a pottery wheel. The first class will focus on project creation while the second class will allow students to glaze their work. Projects will be available for pickup at the Lebanon Center after completion. Minors aged 8+ are welcome to register with the accompaniment of an adult guardian who must also register for the class. All class materials provided. Class dates are 4/22 & 5/6.
History
Art History Of Ceramics
Intended as a supplemental course to Clay Exploration, this course would look deeper into the art history of the ceramics styles practiced in the studio course (porcelain, stoneware, Raku, etc.) and how modern artists are reimagining clay.
