This is an 8-week parenting program based on building a strong relationship with your children. It is designed to help parents of children 3-10: Learn how to respond to your child’s needs by enhancing your connection. Give children a feeling of security and confidence so they can explore, learn, grow and build positive relationships. Set limits and understand your child’s emotional world. Join parents just like you who want to learn a simple way to strengthen their parent-child relationship. Free on-site child care. Free dinner at 5:30 pm. ACTIVE PARENTING OF TEENS
Learn and laugh with other parents as you turn the challenges of raising a teenager into opportunities for growth. You’ll learn positive ways to relate to your teen by increasing your knowledge of the developmental needs of adolescents, thereby better understanding their behavior. Methods of respectful discipline, skills for clear, honest communication, concrete strategies to prevent risky behavior, and how to be an encouraging parent will be discussed. This is a free 8-week class. Child care vouchers are available for paying a family member, friend or neighbor to care for younger children while you attend. Free dinner at 5:30 pm. Taught in English, this is a class for parents of middleschool aged children, ages 12-15. Learn what it means to be a resilient parent who can identify their own strengths and the strengths of their developing adolescent. Build family strengths together. Identify how to connect socially and emotionally with your teen and help them build healthy relationships with adults and their peers. Understand how parents and youth both develop and change during this important season in your lives and how you can find support and build confidence in the midst of some of the normal and common challenges you face. Free dinner and on-site child care provided. This class is offered in partnership with Strengthening Rural Families, Linn-Benton Community College, and Parenting Success Network.
