Next Steps in Key Club
By: Cing Deih
My next step in my Key Club journey is hopefully becoming a board member for one of the elementary schools next year. I’ ve realized this year as a Freshman Representative that I actually really enjoy organizing events such as volunteering opportunities and I like being able to help the community. I remember when I was interviewing for the current position I’ m in right now and how nerve-racking it was for me. Salma, the Key Club President, was very welcoming and chill so that calmed my nerves quite a bit. It’ s just nice having some experience for next year, when I hopefully become a board member again. Also, election season is coming up. I know that it’ s a pretty big time commitment though, so just make sure that if you are running that you ’ re actually passionate and committed to the job. Currently, my chair is organizing a volunteering opportunity for the Freshmen class. As most of you know, the water leak caused a great deal of damage to the classrooms and affected many teachers. Teachers will need help organizing and cleaning before or afterschool. Another thing happening in Key Club soon is the big event! Obviously, this year ’ s big event is going to be a bit different, but I also know that we ’ll make it work. My partner, Allison Turner, and I are still coming up and working out ideas for this event, and we are very enthusiastic about it! Along with many others, I still need some more service hours, so I’ m pretty grateful for the big event and all of the volunteering opportunities.
