father’s hospital scrubs, and Lisa posed the family for a portrait series. “I tear up thinking about it,” said Lisa, wiping her eyes. “It was so beautiful.” • A good vendor is one who can come through in a pinch, and Heather Mann of MANNmade Cakes was able to save one unlucky couple with less than a week to go before the big day. “A woman called us and said her son was getting married in five days and the baker had dropped out,” she said. “She needed 250 cupcakes, and though it was Please See STORIES, B2

When Unexpected Happens, Wedding Vendors Expected To Stay Cool STORIES/From B1 a mad dash to get everything together, we got it done!” She even managed to save some fun for the sister of one of her brides. “A

friend of the bride’s came in to order a cake from the bridal shower, but when I looked at the name, I remembered that her sister had Celiac’s disease,” she

Mom Lois Lopresti, Norwich, and her daughter Allie sample the offerings of Cooperstown’s Mohican Florists. They were there with Allie’s sister Lea, the bride-to-be.

Just Occasionally, Various Varmints Part Of Challenge STORIES/From B1 served events at Hyde Hall where bats swooped down on servers carrying trays of dishes,â€? said Lucy Townsend, who owns L.M. Townsend Catering and the Firehouse Market. “One time, some well-meaning friends of the bride made floral arrangements using watermelons as vases and found the next day that raccoons had eaten the vases, the flowers and had walked all over the tablecloths with muddy paws!â€? • While every wedding is unique, Todd Louckes, who runs Life of the Party DJ services with his wife Wendy, found that sometimes, the bride can have a little fun duplicating her friend’s weddings. “The summer after the SUNY Oneonta girls’ soccer team won the National Championship, I did six of their weddings!â€? said Todd. “I played Queen’s “We Are the Championsâ€? at all of them, and they all had the same first dance – “All My Lifeâ€? by KC and JoJo.â€? With six weddings in one summer, Todd said by the end, the girls were “like familyâ€? to him and Wendy. • Like a good family member, Steve Stegman, owner of August Lodge in Hartwick Seminary, isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty when it comes to getting the wedding set up. “We’ve built archways, moved port-o-potties, you name it,â€? he said. And with the right team behind them, the bride and groom can count on vendors to make sure that at the end of the day, only happy memories prevail. “No matter what happens, it’s always a beautiful day,â€? said Lisa.
