hen filmmaker Dan Doren opened the antique tin he found in the basement of his parents’ Rochester home, he wasn’t expecting to find letters and journals inside. “My mom bought it at an estate sale because she liked the box,” he said. When he read the letters, he certainly wasn’t expecting to find tales of

Dr. David Little, a Springfield doctor who in 1816 discovered a “stone baby” in the disinterred body of a woman he had examined when she was young and pregnant many years before. “I knew I had to make this movie,” said Doren. “There was so much material.” The resulting film, “Once in a Good Many Million Times,” will be shown on Saturday, May 9 at the Community Center here, sponsored by the Springfield Historical Society.
