SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The safe operation of your Supaswift Lawn Mower is now your responsibility as well as the responsibility of any other person that will operate this machine. Please read the entire operating instructions carefully and familiarise yourself with the operation of the unit before using the machine. Supaswift Lawn Mowers are designed for cutting grass. This Supaswift Lawn Mower may not be used for cutting other material not described in these operating instructions. The operator is responsible for third parties in the working area of the Supaswift Lawn Mower. Never operate this machine while persons, particularly children, or animals are within the danger zone of the machine (i.e. within 6 metres or 20'). Persons under 16 years of age should not operate the machine. Ensure that anybody who operates this machine at any time is familiar with the operation and safety features of the unit.
Protective Clothing & Equipment
Appropriate protective clothing should be worn at all times when working with the Supaswift Lawn Mower. This includes enclosed toe work shoes with non-slip soles, close-fitting work clothes. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery and tie back hair that may get caught in rotating parts. Eye and ear protection must also be worn at all times.
Operating Precautions
Do not place hands, feet or loose clothing near discharge outlets, or any moving parts. Never operate this machine with the rear grass flap removed as this may result in personal injury. Do not attempt to clean the machine, especially underneath or near the discharge area while the unit is operating. If you must clean or clear the machine: (a) Turn the engine OFF. (b) Wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop. (c) Disconnect spark plug lead from spark plug. (d) Wear hand protection (e.g. leather gloves) before placing hands near blades. Page |3
Under no circumstances operate this machine in an enclosed area as Carbon Monoxide fumes produced by the engine can be lethal. Avoid operating this machine over loose stones or gravel surface as debris may deflect from the discharge area and result in personal injury or property damage. Ensure mowing area is clear of loose objects that could be thrown by mower blades. This product is equipped with an internal combustion type engine. DO NOT use unit on or near any unimproved, forest-covered or brush covered land unless exhaust system is equipped with a spark arrester meeting applicable local, state or federal laws. Fitment of an approved Spark Arrestor for a particular area is at cost of, and is the responsibility of the operator. If a spark arrester is used, the operator must maintain it in effective working order. Before leaving or transporting the machine, ensure that the engine is turned off and that all moving parts have come to a complete stop as the blades can continue to rotate for up to 10 seconds after the engine has been turned off. Turn off the engine: - Before clearing blockages or eliminating clogging in the discharge chute. - If excessive vibration is evident.
- Before refuelling, cleaning, checking, opening the discharge chute, emptying the catcher, fitting or removing mulching baffle or performing maintenance of any kind. The blade should be checked regularly for wear, damage and secure mounting. Ensure that all screws and bolts are always firmly tightened. Do not operate this machine with worn or damaged blades. If blades strike an immoveable object, stop the engine and check for damage before proceeding. Know your controls and learn how to stop the engine quickly in an emergency!
Safety Labels
Please observe all safety and warning labels as they are designed for your protection and for the protection of the machine. Failure to observe these safety labels may cause serious injury to the operator, bystanders or to the machine. Danger and warning labels that have become illegible must be replaced. Your authorised Allpower Servicing Dealer can supply replacement labels.
Maintenance
Before attempting any maintenance on this machine, ensure the engine is switched OFF, all moving parts have come to a complete stop and the spark plug lead is disconnected from the spark plug.
Allow the engine to cool down if maintenance, refuelling, oil change or top-up is required. Do not change the basic setting of, or over-rev the engine. Excessive speed can cause personal injury, damage to the machine and will void the Engine Warranty. If parts or safety guards have been removed for maintenance work, ensure that these are remounted and secure before the next use. Use only genuine Supaswift replacement parts. Use of non-genuine or modified components may cause personal injury or damage to the machine. Only carry out maintenance work described in these operating instructions. Contact your authorised Allpower Servicing Dealer for all other work.

Store petrol only in a container intended for this purpose. Store petrol in a cool, dry place away from sources of flames or sparks (e.g. hot water systems, grinding equipment and barbeques). Refuel the engine only in a well-ventilated area. Do not smoke whilst refuelling. The fuel tank should be filled with petrol before starting the engine. The fuel cap must not be opened or petrol added with the engine running or when the machine is hot. If petrol has been spilled, do not attempt to start engine. Remove the machine from petrol soaked area and ensure that all liquid and fumes have been wiped dry or evaporated before attempting to start the engine. Allow the engine to cool before storing the Supaswift Lawn Mower in closed rooms, refuelling or performing maintenance.
In order to avoid the risk of fire, ensure that the engine (particularly cooling fins and exhaust system) are kept free of grass, leaves, debris or engine oil.
Replace damaged mufflers immediately.

ENGINE STARTING PROCEDURE WARNING: AVOID INJURY. Read and understand the entire Safety section before proceeding.
CAUTION: Read the Engine Manufacturers Operators Manual for detailed starting instructions
1. Fill the engine with fuel and oil as per the engine manufacturer's instructions. 2. Ensure catcher is fitted correctly (refer to OPERATING PROCEDURE). 3. Check the height adjustment is set correctly for the mowing conditions you are about to encounter (refer to OPERATING PROCEDURE).
4. 5. 6. 7.
Start the engine in accordance with the engine manufacturer's instructions. Allow the engine to warm up for several minutes. Run the engine at maximum throttle setting. NB. Some models may have a fixed throttle. Please refer to the engine owners manual for the configuration of your machine.
SHUTTING DOWN THE MACHINE 1. Adjust the throttle control to the slow position. 2. Switch the engine off. Allow all moving parts to come to a complete stop before transporting or storing the unit.
HEIGHT ADJUSTER POSITION The Supaswift Lawn Mower has 12 height positions. Positions are indicated by the holes in the Quadrant plate (1) which mesh with the pin on the height adjuster leaver (2). Position 1 is a travel position and must not be used for mowing. In this position the mower blades are too low to cut grass and damage may result. Please refer to the table below for more information. Tip: Remember grass is a living plant and requires its leaves to live. The leaves are what you cut and by cutting too low can result in killing of your grass and a poor finish. This can also cause premature wear and damage to your lawn mower.

MOWING/ MULCHING GUIDE FITTING THE CATCHER (If equipped) To fit the catcher, lift the rear flap by the handle and insert the open end of the catcher into the opening. While still holding the catcher in place, lower the flap to engage on the top of the catcher opening. To remove the catcher, reverse this procedure.
MOWING & MULCHING GUIDE Mowing techniques are different for different conditions. The aim of a mulch mower is to repeatedly cut grass until it is cut up fine enough to drop below the grass left standing. To achieve the perfect result you must cut off one third of the grass height. This allows the cut up grass to be concealed achieving the perfect result. If you cut lower than one third of the grass it won’t be concealed and will be visible lying on top of the standing grass and a poor result will be achieved. Grass with low moisture content is best cut with a mulch mower. This prevents the grass sticking together so allow rain or dew to dry off before mowing. To achieve the best results follow the MOWING & MULCHING GUIDE below.

Tip: If grass is higher than 6 cm always take the first cut at the highest position. This reduces the amount of work your mower engine has to do and allows you to move throughout the grass without stalling the engine. You can now check for any objects low in the grass that would previously have been hidden. Now set the mowing height to the desired result and continue mowing.
