About Gretel Bueta (née Tippett)
Gretel Bueta is an Australian netball player and former basketball player who graduated from All Saints in 2010. After playing Basketball for the Australian Institute of Sport in the Women’s National Baskebtall League during the 2010/2011 season, Gretel decided to pursue a professional career in Netball in 2012 - and hasn’t looked back since.
Some of her professional highlights include representing Australia at the 2019 Netball World Cup, the 2022 Commonwealth games and at six consecutive Constellation Cup test series between 2015 and 2021.
Gretel delivered a standout performance on behalf of the Queensland Firebirds in the 2022 Netball Quad Series with a 93% shooting accuracy, earning her player of the match. In that same year, Gretel welcomed her first child into the world and was also named the Firebirds’ Most Valuable Player.

Conditions of Entry
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. General Information
1.1. All games will follow the standard Netball rules as Stated by The International Netball Federation, unless otherwise stated in this document.
1.2. The carnival is open to invited teams only.
1.3. Each school team must be accompanied by a qualified teacher from the school.
2. Eligibilty of teams
2.1. This is a school-based netball competition, and as such all competitors must be an enrolled student in the school and year level they are representing.
2.2. Each player may only be registered and compete for a single team at any time during competition.
2.3. Teams are restricted to a maximum of TEN (10) players.
2.4. Any infringement of the Conditions of Entry and Playing Conditions could result in immediate disqualification from the carnival.
2.5. All participants must abide by the Netball Queensland “Code of Behaviour” - refer to the Netball Queensland website (www.qld.netball.com.au).
2.6. Each team must supply a competent umpire per team. Primary school students are not permitted to umpire; high school students may be used as umpires. Umpires will be umpiring their own team.
PLAYING CONDITIONS
3. Draw
3.1. No alterations to the draw will be made without the approval of the GT Carnival Committee.
3.2. There will be no refund of fees if a team withdraws after the draw is completed.
3.3. Each team will play a minimum of five (5) games throughout the day
3.4. Umpires will umpire their school team throughout the day.
3.5. If there are two pools a final cross over round will be played to determine the winning team.
4.1. All games shall consist of two halves of ten (10) minutes each, with an interval of three (3) minutes. Teams shall change ends each half.
4.3. There will be no Captain’s toss at the beginning of games. The team listed first on the draw will take the first centre pass.
4.4. The captains have the right to approach an Umpire during an interval or after the game for clarification of any rule.
4.5. All matches shall commence and finish at the advertised time and will be sounded by using a ‘hooter’ or similar device. On the final ‘hooter’ the umpire will indicate the end of play by a whistle.
4.6. A team must take the court if there are at least five (5) players present, one of whom must play Centre. Players arriving late are only permitted to enter the game into a vacant position and only immediately after a goal has been scored or following an interval.
4.7. A team unable to take the court at the advertised time shall forfeit the match If such team cannot take the court within five (5) minutes of the advertised time of the commencement of the game.
4.8. Before the start of the first game only, the names of up to ten (10) players, one of whom shall be the Captain, must be provided to the Scorers. No additions or substitutions are permitted to the team list.
4.9 Match points: Win = 3 points. Draw = 2 points. Loss = 1 points.
5. Injury time and Blood Policy
5.1. There is no allocated injury time. The injured player is immediately removed from the game and a substitution is permitted, or if the injured player is unable to be moved the game will be moved to a vacant court. Replacement and substitution of the injured player is in accordance with standard Netball Queensland rules.
5.2. Both players and the umpire are permitted to call injury time.
5.3. Any court player that has indicated the presence of blood must be immediately removed from the court. The umpire will indicate this by a whistle blow.
5.4. There is no allocated time for blood and the affected player/s must be immediately substituted, or the position/s remains vacant until the blood has been removed. Players
may return to the court either after a goal is scored or following an interval.
6. Equipment and Uniform
6.1. Post pads and score sheets will be provided.
6.2. Each team must bring a match ball (size 5). Play will commence with the ball from the team names first on the draw, the other teams ball may be used for the second half of the game.
6.3. Players will not be permitted to take the court if not properly attired.
6.4. Each team must have an alternate set of bibs at their disposal. The team listed first on the draw will be required to change bibs if a clash of colour should occur.
7. Player and Officials Conduct
7.1. Breaking the rules and/or employment of any action in a manner contrary to the ‘spirit of the game’ is not permitted.
7.2. All matters pertaining to an umpire’s ruling are not subject to appeal and ‘the decision of the umpires shall be final’.
7.3. The rules of the carnival are final and no discussion will be entered into regarding their application by officials. Should there be any questions about the rules, the Carnival Convenor will be happy to assist with their interpretation, prior to commencement of play.
7.4. The Carnival Convenor should be consulted for any dispute and the Carnival Convenor will have the final decision.
8. Championship
8.1. At the end of the round robin, each team will be ranked (1 being the team with the greatest number of points).
8.2. If two teams are on equal points after the rounds, the team that won the corresponding game in the rounds will be ranked higher than the other team. If the game in the rounds was a draw, the ranking will then be decided using ‘points for and against’ calculated from all round games.
8.3. The cross over games will be determined by each team’s ranking at the end of the round robin.
8.4. The Championship team for each age division will be decided in the playoff for 1st and 2nd in the Major Grand Final.
