From the Cowan House Captains

2021 HAS BEEN FUN, AS WE HAVE HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO BE YEAR 6 LEADERS AND THE COWAN HOUSE CAPTAINS. YEAR 6 MAY HAVE STARTED OFF WEIRDLY, WITH THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL AT HOME. BUT FROM THERE THE YEAR ONLY BECAME BETTER! BEING YEAR 6 LEADERS AND COWAN HOUSE CAPTAINS WAS CHALLENGING, AS WE HAD TO TAKE ON COUNTLESS RESPONSIBILITIES, BUT IT HAS TAUGHT US SO MUCH. IT HAS BEEN AN EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE THAT WE WILL REMEMBER FOR EVER.

In Term 2 we helped run a mindfulness day where the Year 6 leaders each ran an event. This was for the entire Junior School, which helped us reset our minds and focus on our developing awareness. We also ran morning fitness for Years 2–6, which helped strengthen our leadership and consolidated our relationships with the younger children. As Cowan House Captains, we helped run an Assembly about organisation. We also had our Interhouse Swimming, Cross Country, and Athletics Carnivals in which Cowan cheered each other over the finish line and tried our best in all the events. These activities took many of us out of our comfort zones and made us try new things! We were fortunate enough to win the Cross Country and Athletics carnivals because of the efforts of all the members of Cowan. Being Year 6 leaders has taught us many skills. Being the Cowan House Captains in 2021 was unforgettable. But the most important thing we learnt was that being in Cowan House is a remarkable experience. This would not be possible without the support of Mr Wong, Mr Howson and Mr Christie, who always helped when we needed it. Connor Gee and Annabella Tan Year 6
