Get the family to sit around a Camp Fire (a grown up made ) in the Garden or back yard, or if you cant do that, sit around a barbecue. Each think of some favourite or funny family stories and memories and take it in turns to tell them . Dave the donkey was so excited. He’d been watching all week for Grandpa donkey to get back from Jerusalem. Dave had some big news he’d been waiting to share with him.

“Grandpa! Grandpa! Guess what? I carried the king into Jerusalem.” “You’re joking, Dave.” “No, Grandpa. I carried the king!”

The king jumped right on my back.

“I was standing out the front, minding my own business, when the king’s servant untied me and led me to the king.

The crowd waved palm branches and everyone cheered, ‘Hooray for the king! Long live the king!’ We charged down the hill and up the mountain to Jerusalem.

We said goodbye, and I headed home leaving the king to get on with the job of being king.

So, Grandpa, you’ve been in Jerusalem since then,tell me what happened next. Did the crowd keep cheering for the king?”

Jesus is alive today. Hallelujah! You can read all about it in Luke chapter 24 in the BIble.

“Well, Dave, the crowd were yelling for the king.”

“Wow!” said Dave, “And I’m sure all the leaders came to meet him.”

“And, Grandpa, they would have placed a golden crown upon the king’s head.” “Yes,” sighed Grandpa, “the king did meet all the leaders.”

“They certainly crowned the king, but it wasn’t made of gold.”

“The throne, Grandpa, they must have led the king into the palace, sat him on the throne and cheered, ‘Long live the king!”

“No, Dave.” sighed Grandpa, “There was no throne. They led the king out of Jerusalem and they nailed him to a cross.”

Dave was stunned. “A cross? So . . . so the king . . . the king is dead?”

“No, Dave. The king was dead. The king was placed in a tomb and the tomb was sealed with a heavy stone.

But now, the king is alive! He was dead but the tomb is empty and the king is alive!”

“The king was dead, but now he is alive.” “Grandpa,” asked Dave, “did you ever carry someone special that you will never forget?” “Yes, Dave,” said Grandpa, “as a matter of fact I did. It was long ago on a starry night like this...”

HARD TIMES Have you ever had a really hard thing in your life, maybe you’ve even tried praying but it didn’t seem to make a difference? Here’s Bella who learnt that she could pray anytime. But she’s having a hard time at the moment. Her pet hamster has just died and she doesn’t really feel like praying because she feels so sad.

Finish Jesus knows about sad times so he’s really good to talk to about it. And what’s more, he really cares about how you’re feeling and is always listening. So telling him how we feel is a good place to start. No matter what, God is always listening and our prayer always makes a difference. Even if it’s tricky to spot.

True story... In the Bible there was a man called David who had a lot of sad and hard times before he became a King. He always shared with God how he was feeling and this helped him remember that God was with him no matter what. Thats pretty amazing :)

Jesus is a good friend to have in hard times. He’s overcome all hard times, including dying and coming back to life! When Jesus was on earth he talked about heaven, a place where there was no pain and no crying. And he said that there is a place for everyone there, including you.

Try this... Find a little stone that you can put in your pocket. Each time you find it you can remember that God knows about your sad situation and he is going to carry you through it, just like you have been carrying the stone.

Swap

Easter

Have you ever swapped any thing with a friend? Swapping things can be fun. When you swap something you often hope that what you gett in return is better than what you gave away. If the other person feels that they got a good deal too, then it’s a fair swap. The biggest swap of all time took place at Easter time. When Jesus died on the cross he swapped our sin for his goodness. That’s pretty AWESOME!

Why did he do it? What did he get out of it except for a pile of trash?

Romans 5:10 tells us what he got out of it … he got us. Because he took away all of our junk, we can now be friends with God forever. As with any swap you have to agree that you want to accept it. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me! Look at the list of our stuff and God’s stuff that Jesus wants to swap. What things do you want Jesus to take away from your life?

You can accept the swap by praying this prayer today:

“Thank you Jesus that you died on the cross to take away my sin and give me your life. Thank you that you did this swap because you love me so much that you wanted me to be with you forever. I am sorry that I have done things wrong. Please forgive me and take it all away. I accept the swap that you did for me on the cross. Thank you that you accept me. Amen.”

Saltmine Theatre Company’s production of “Noah a Musical Adventure” with Duggie Dug Dug playing the part of Noah sailed into seventeen packed theatres and wowed audiences across the UK in May and June 2014. And now it’s all set to set off on tour again in May 2015. With fabulous songs by Doug Horley (Duggie Dug Dug) and Mark Read from band “A1”, the show also includes a great cast of actors and spectacular puppets including huge giraffes and elephants. Each show will also feature a children’s choir made up of around 25 children from local schools and churches. We think Doug is amazing and if you’re in the UK we would highly recommend trying to go and see the show. But if you cant make it - you could enter our competition to win a copy of the album!

We can also talk to Him by praying, and His Holy Spirit is here to help us. Wherever we go, whatever we do and whoever we are we know that Jesus is on our side. Life with Jesus is never dull. Easter Make your own

Ingredients 200g butter,

at room temperature

200g caster sugar 400g plain flour 1 egg

To decorate

250g royal icing sugar assorted food colourings

Here’s what to do... 1. 2.

Place the butter in a large mixing bowl with the caster sugar. Using a wooden spoon beat until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in the egg until well mixed, then gradually add the flour. Use your hands to bring the mixture together to a stiff dough. Gather into a ball and chill for 30 minutes. (It’s not that long to wait!)

4. Heat the oven to 180°C, fan160°C. (You might need help for this bit) 5. Roll out the dough on a work surface lightly dusted with flour

until it’s the thickness of a coin. Using an oval cutter (or any egg- shaped template), cut out egg-shaped biscuits. Don’t forget to use rolled out trimmings to make more.

Place on baking trays and bake in the oven for 6-10 minutes, depending on size, until just golden brown.

Allow to cool for 5 minutes before removing from the baking tray to cool completely. (Almost there!)

To decorate these awesome biscuits: make up the icing as directed on

the packet. Divide between 3-4 bowls adding a little food colouring to each bowl. Place the mixture into piping bags and decorate biscuits you might like to use sprinkles or sweets too. Enjoy!
