Photovoltaic(PV) (PV)innovation innovation Photovoltaic Through the use of semi-transparent modules a dual yield is achieved: Power generation and plant cultivation in greenhouses. • Light weight: Two only 2 mm thin sheets of glass, 12 kg m² • High reliability through tempered glass back instead of plastic backsheet • Extreme durability through Hi-tec tempering and lamination process comparable windshields of cars • Highest wind load > 2400 Pa and snow load > 5400 Pa • Best performance even in case of very high temperatures • Extended warranty of 30 years, 50+ year lifetime

-> Almaden modules produce 100 % more lifetime power compared to competitors during their extended lifetime.
Highstability stabilityand andunrivaled unrivaledflexibility flexibility High Almaden modules made of laminated safety glass bear the highest loads: During a bending test the module bent, but held the load. As a result, no cracks were visible on the glass surface. Even after an extreme deflection of 55 mm with 1000 cycles, the glass and later the laminate remained totally intact and - even more amazing: there were no microcracks in the solar cells and thus no performance limitations of the modules. This is illustrated in the two electroluminescence photos which show the solar cells before (on the left side) and after 1000 bending cycles.
Before beinding test, no micro cracks observed
After 100 cycle bending test, no micro cracks observed
30 years Warranty The structure of all Almaden modules with 2 sheets of hardened glass ensures an extremely long lifetime of over 50 years (proven in aging tests). The glass sheets are welded together with a particularly durable EVA film (lamination). The structure is similar to that of windshields of cars. For physical reasons, the power produced degrades slightly over time.

Almaden modules are resistant against every climate Almaden modules are resistant against every climate Cold temperature with snow:
Salt water:
Desert climate:
Hot and humide climate:
Low temperatures are prevailing in countries of the northern hemisphere but also during the night in desert areas. All materials have to withstand temperatures below 30°Cel. as well as fast changes to high temperatures up to 85°Cel..
Salt and also air-borne chemicals are very aggressive and a threat to the modules materials. Glass is the first choice to withstand these threats.
Is a special threat to modules. A chemical reaction with most foils like EVA takes place and as a result citric acid builds up. Consequently, the temperature rises and the acid boils, which destroys the modules over months and years. Almaden established a unique technique in order to oppose these threats and protect the cells.
Desert areas include very high temperatures of up to 85°Cel. in the inside of the module. Temperatures change in fast cycle. In many cases the material doesn‘t withstand these changes over their lifespan of 30 – 50 years. As a result, Almaden‘s modules loose very little power compared to other cells.
Urban Farming Urban Farming PVPV Urban Farming PV® is a contribution to solving the food and energy shortage in the future. The world population will grow to 9.5 billion people in 2050. Considering a minimum food supply of 6,280 kJ (1500 kcal) per day, the traditional agricultural area would have to additionally grow by 850 million hectares. This space is not available. On the contrary, the suitable agricultural land mass is dramatically reduced due to climate change. Alternative areas and rooms need to be taken for the purpose of food security into consideration. Add to this the fact that the world's population is growing mainly in cities, particularly in developing countries. In 1975 about 37% of the world population lived in cities, by 2030 this number is expected to increase to nearly 60%. By then approximately five billion people will live in urban areas. One feature is the emergence of megacities with more than ten million inhabitants. While in 1975, only five of them were existing, there are already 26 in 2015. By the year 2030 their number will increase to about 50, of which the vast majority lies in Asia and Latin America.

Urbanization is associated with residential roll back of formerly agricultural land. This means that for the supply of the immensely growing population increasingly longer distances have to be covered. Given the already existing gridlock in balloon centers a nearly insoluble logistical problem. With our centralized small or medium sized UrbanFarming PV units, food can be produced in almost any place within the urban areas and in addition plenty of energy is available for the need of the farming unit (including growth-enhancing LED lighting), but also for feeding into the grid.
