In 2023, ALPFA was excited to host our 51st Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas at the Henry B González Convention Center and Grand Hyatt San Antonio Riverwalk This is our annual national in-person event that includes annual awards, the career fair, on-site interviews with partners, networking and celebrating our ALPFAmilia!
This convention was the embodiment of the positive changes that are happening within ALPFA and beyond - globally This convention showcased the importance of standing in the power of our history and culture . San Antonio is known as a Real & True City, in the same spirit we decided our theme for 2023 was “Real Power True Culture”
This is a high-level overview of the 2023 Convention report, if you want more details please see the full report here

I attended the conference in San Antonio and diligently researched all companies. My top pick was Abbott. Day 1 of the career fair arrived, and I felt ready. I double checked that I had my resume printed out, popped a mint in my mouth and walked over to their table first. I shared my resume and met a couple employees. I was able to attend Abbott’s workshop and met four panelists. They had work histories with the company that ranged from 3 weeks to over 20 years with the company, but the commonality between them was the unfading smile that came when describing the company they represented. Today, I am happy to say a month after the convention, I started working for Abbott. I’ve learned so much and am so grateful for the community I found in ALPFA. Thank you!”

Every year, we hold the Regional Student Symposiums, which take place in all 5 regions across the continental USA The symposiums bring together Latino students from all career majors for a day of insights, guidance, leadership skills and professional development opportunities, to help provide them an edge in today’s competitive job market
The objective of this year’s symposiums was to have students take a proactive approach to defining and plotting their career paths, while developing flexible skillsets adaptable to various industries Through a series of interactive sessions, participants learned how to discover their potential, find their niche, market themselves, and secure an internship or job offer
