IMPACT STORY: LASTING

Working overseas during a global pandemic was not part of the original career plan for Katie Reed Midla, Beta Delta-Indiana University. Yet in 2012, her sisters set the stage and set in motion a career she loves with Deloitte.

Before graduating and becoming Senior Manager in the Deloitte Global Capital Markets Group in London, Katie was surrounded by Alpha Gams.

“A sister who was in nearly all my accounting classes helped me prep for interviews. Another had interned with Deloitte the summer before and gave me some tips on people to network with. Then, when I entered the interview, the interviewer told me she was Alpha Gam, too!”

Katie arrived at her new work home in London just four months before the pandemic changed everything. Her new environment has given her a chance to exercise the skills she learned through Alpha Gamma Delta, one of her first leadership opportunities.

I gained so much confidence from being in this sorority. As Chapter President, I learned how to interact with so many different personalities throughout the chapter and how listening is essential to making the right decisions," Katie said. "That confidence—to be able to ask questions and work with others—was pivotal in my future success.

This led to another important decision in her life—making a donation to the Foundation and ensuring leadership opportunities are available for future generations.

Katie is just one of 2,337 sisters and friends who gave to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation in 2020-21.

"I've consistently given to Alpha Gamma Delta every single year. Alpha Gam gave me purpose and helped me become confident. Being part of the Jewel Society and GEM Society, I know that giving what I can add up throughout the year.”
