Page 1

Arrangements for Year 13 All students currently on EMA will receive a letter from the scheme providers explaining the changes for 2011/12 Summary of changes below •

Students who resat 12 year will continue to get EMA payments at the same level as last year as they were given an ‘EMA guarantee’ by the previous government when they started sixth form.

Students currently getting the maximum payments of £30 per week will get a ‘transition payment’ of £20 per week for the academic year. These payments will be managed in the same way as now with school inputting weekly payment authorisations for students who meet the attendance criteria.

Students getting less than £30 per week currently will receive no payments. If students in this category have a change of circumstance that means that they can now claim the full £30 per week then they can apply to have their payments reinstated.

Year 13 students not receiving EMA next year will be able to apply to the new bursary scheme which is replacing EMA however this is a very limited fund.
