GCSE Results 2011 Top GCSE success with a Spanish twist. Alsager School celebrates GCSE results that mark a quarter of its GCSE students achieving A*‐A. Headteacher David Black said: ‘We are delighted with our GCSE results and in par cular the results of our most able. Based on this performance A level grades should be excep onal.’ GCSE Spanish received 100% A‐C with 81% of its students achieving A*‐A. ‘Par cular congratula‐ ons to Spanish students and their teachers. This is the first year that we have entered students for GCSE Spanish and what a huge success it has been.’ David Black con nued. ‘I am sure that A lev‐ el Spanish in our sixth form will be phenomenal’. Par cular success stories are that of Hope Bristow who achieved 8A*, 3 A. Alice Thomas 9 A*, 2A, 1B. Gregory Godley who secured 7A*, 4A. Ricky Fiore 6A*, 3A, 1B. Along with so many other stu‐ dents that secured this phenomenal rate of A/A*. As well as this outstanding numbers of top grades, Alsager School can now boast 85.4% A*‐C and 71.8% including English and Maths. A local school with results to be proud of. Sonia Cross, Deputy Head, said: ‘I am really looking forward to welcoming these students along with students from elsewhere into our sixth form which is riding high on such great success.’


A Level Results—2011 Well over half of the students achieved A*‐B at A level. Alsager School has once again achieved the enviable accolade of well over half of its students achiev‐ ing A*‐B at A level. ‘I am yet again gra fied that all of our students who worked so hard have achieved such great success.’ said headteacher David Black. Amongst these successful results are Tony Boardman and Catherine Turner who both achieved 2 A* and an A! ‘As well as an incredible academic achievement both students are talented musicians and have been a constant presence in the musical performances at Alsager School over the last 7 years.’ con nued David Black. Tony along with band mate Sam Kerr are well known locally as they are mem‐ bers of the up and coming band ‘The Flares’. Sam Kerr along with Hannah Donkin and deputy head boy O o Warman achieved an A*, A, A. Another student, Tom Price, overcame a broken back injury to achieve A,B,B a real testament to his commitment and hard work. Meanwhile his brother, Ma hew Price along with Peter Collins both achieved an A in AS Maths despite only being 16 years old! Deputy Head, Sonia Cross, said ‘I’m really looking forward to the start of term; to welcoming a new Sixth Form intake who have already achieved massively and know they are entering a learning envi‐ ronment where everything is possible. Along with our brand new state of the art Performing Arts
