DISCOVER ANOTHER SIDE
HOSTEL Designing the hostel in Tijuana, Mexico Concept Statement Tijuana has long been one of the major t o u r i s t c i t i e s i n M e x i c o . H o w e v e r, m o s t outsiders' impression of the city is associated with alcohol, nightclub or sexual service. Combing with the recent media attention on illegal immigrant, a lot of people grow misconception about Tijuana. Thus, the main goal of our hostel is to help visitors realize there are many other amazing aspects of the city. The Capa Oculta is not an ordinary hostel, we oer various cultural-related courses and activities, diverse local art display throughout the space, and we also encourage our guests to interact with local residents.

COEXISTENCE WITH NONHUMAN Coexistence with portia spider in the designed space
Portia spiders eat insects and they are Araneophagic; they eat other spiders, including other spider's eggs
The purpose of spider and human’s coexistence is to have a connection in the interior spaces with different programs like spider build up their webs with tensile structure by using scientifically high developed technologies that I can study from Portia spider. Through their high-intelligence and ability to solve the problem, I can develop the idea of high-technology and robotic development by studying Portia spider. In my designed space, people are able to experience everything from Portia spider throughout the beginning of the space to 4th floor with triple-height interior jungle look like space with amusing vertical circulations and it’s surrounding environments.
They make a living at a lower level but higher than the ground. Usually active during the afternoon, inactive at night
Their life-span is only 2-3 years
After experiencing their habitat, visitors can enjoy the laboratory space where the scientists study about Portia spiders and create robot systems that can help in medical ways or observation ways of high technology instead of a human in the future. Also, there are educational spaces with exhibitions about the spider and seminars that people can easily join. Not only experiencing throughout the interior space, but the visitors can also have educational aspects through the studies and performances that I created as part of programs.

.03 GUIDANCE OF THE PATH Navigating people through the space with sense of smell
How to create navigation with smell? How does navigating using smell affect space? Based on developments from my model smoke (smell) diffusion and movement tests I used an interlocking puzzle system to organize the space. There are multiple opportunities for entry and horizontal/vertical movement and communication. Visitors can follow a path of their choosing. Each space and route has different types and intensities of scents along with related visualizations or projections on surfaces. In between spaces will be void of smell, providing visitors with a place of rest from their scent journey.
.03
NARRATIVE STUDY This diagram has created with line works and stories from the movie. I studied about narratives by analyzing 4 different movie genres. By each of film’s rhythmic difference, analyzed diagrams are all different. By using this statistic and narrative studies, I studied about “narratives” that can lead the people in the designed space with different themes of scents.

.04 CAFE & BAR DESIGN Designing the given space as a cafe or bar or both
This place is designed after observing visitor’s regular circulation in the space. With lots of detailed CAD drawings, this project has detailed drawings that explain the designed spaces with different seatings for private and communal spaces. During the daytime, space is normally operated as a cafe but at night, space changed to the bar so it is more diverse and flexible designed space.
