Anglia Ruskin University has a commitment to improving and expanding our community engagement and the Mumford Theatre plays a central role in this. The Mumford Theatre aims to present shows that engage, stimulate the imagination, challenge expectations and, of course, entertain. We offer our local community and our students an exciting range of quality theatre productions at affordable prices, and to accompany certain productions present free pre-show talks by leading academics of Anglia Ruskin University. We welcome local schools and offer school group prices for large groups on selected performances. Due to the physical arrangement of the theatre, and in the interests of other members of the audience, we do not encourage bringing children younger than 3 years old to the theatre.

THEOREM Ruskin Gallery Thursday 7 July – Thursday 21 July Private View: Thursday 7 July, 5.00pm THEOREM is the first group exhibition of PhD practice-based research within the Cambridge School of Art. With research being conducted in film and media studies, illustration, fashion, fine art, typography and graphic design, THEOREM promises to be as diverse as it is engaging. In addition to providing CSA doctoral researchers the opportunity to present their visual research outcomes within an exhibition format, theory:practice, a concurrent symposium, will give those researchers scope to discuss their research. Keynote speakers will discuss the investigative issues and challenges involved in practice-based research, and how the links between theory and practice work. An accompanying symposium, theory:practice, will take place 7 July, 9.30am – 5.15pm. HOPES + DREAMS Statements of Intents Explored Ruskin Gallery Balcony Thursday 7 July – Friday 29 July Private View: Thursday 7 July, 5.00pm A manifesto is a public declaration of intent, an opportunity to put into words your hopes and dreams, your vision and plans. It’s a way to encourage support for your ideas, to influence others and inspire support for your point of view. Whether political, artistic, or religious, manifestos have been the source of some of the most important, influential, and thoughtprovoking concepts in history. For this exhibition, Letter Exchange invited its members to submit works based around the theme of manifestos. The broad brief allowed participants to explore this rich and diverse catalogue of texts to discover phrases and passages that resonate with them or indeed inspire them to create their own. In many ways, this exhibition can be seen as a manifesto for Letter Exchange, this is what they are about. The best practitioners of contemporary fine lettering producing new and challenging works, experimenting with materials and techniques to deliver thoughts and ideas in ways that will stand out and be memorable.

You will also hear the famous Queen of the Night in a version guaranteed never to be forgotten! This is a musical treat for all the family – full of surprises, wonderful music and lots of laughs.
