Modules Core Modules • Business Law in the Global Context provides the introductory foundation for further study on the course, enabling you to develop an understanding of the context in which international business takes place and to develop the research skills appropriate at postgraduate level.

• Commercial Contracts focuses on the construction and

enforcement of commercial contracts including the formalities for the creation of a valid, commercial contract, the contents of a commercial contract, defects in commercial contracts and possible remedies to contractual issues. The module develops an analytical approach to the application of legal principles and will focus on developing problem-solving, research, written analytical and critical-thinking skills.

LLM International Commercial Law Anglia Law School has proven excellence in developing legal skills (mooting, debating and client interviewing) of an international standard. Our students have, in recent years, won The Observer National Mooting Competition, the National Client Interviewing Competition and represented the UK in the International Client Interviewing Competition. The LLM provides a combination of theory and practical application which is relevant to international legal practice and business in the context of advanced intellectual engagement with issues in law and legal theory. This course also considers law in relation to associated disciplines such as international governance and international environmental issues. Course completion provides students with the necessary background and legal expertise for international practice, academic research and other intellectually demanding roles. Our LLM is available at our Cambridge campus as a one year, full time, taught degree completed by a supervised dissertation. Renowned as a world-famous academic centre, Cambridge offers an exceptional environment for study and the opportunity to sample a wealth of culture. Enhanced by all the advantages of an academic seat of learning and a beautiful city, Cambridge is an ideal location for academic learning.

How the LLM is organised Students can start the course in either September or January. After taking four 15-credit compulsory modules students may choose from a range of specialised options.

resolution together with substantive and procedural aspects of business litigation in the worldwide context. It combines theory and practical application relevant to international legal practice and business.

• International Law Research is focused on an understanding

and analysis of research methodologies and their application to the legal context. Throughout this module you will encounter a range of research activities and consider how these can not only influence your own academic research but also make a significant contribution to professional practice. The approach taken within this module is one which underpins the major dissertation and therefore offers an opportunity to discuss how research may be undertaken through the application of appropriate methodology.

Teaching Teaching takes place in blocks of two or three hours. These provide a structured framework within which each student can develop their own knowledge and understanding of the subject. This is achieved through defined research tasks which are undertaken either prior to or after the seminar to focus private study.

• Dispute Resolution examines methods of alternative dispute

• Transnational Commercial Law examines the development

and application of commercial law through consideration of a range of key legal issues concerning commercial arrangements between persons in different jurisdictions and the impact these make on both national and international business.

Associated Careers Our course will provide you with the background and legal expertise you need for international practice, academic research, and associated careers such as accountancy and corporate secretarial activities. Our students have pursued careers in international law firms, the legal departments of international corporations and government departments.

Optional Modules

• International Governance considers the growing debate

about governance from both an “internal” perspective (corporate governance) and an external one (corporate social responsibility).

• Comparative Company Law considers the way corporate

law transcends particular jurisdictions and will assess the underlying purpose of the rules governing these business vehicles.
