The Legal Practice Course is a postgraduate course for those wishing to qualify as solicitors. Successful completion of the course enables students to enter employment as a trainee solicitor. This traineeship is usually for a two year period. The course is validated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and is endorsed by Skillsmark (the quality mark for programmes in the justice sector).
Assessment We use a combination of timed open book supervised assessments, closed book supervised assessments, oral practical and course work style assessments across the course. Unlike many other providers our students undertake full-scale mock assessments in all areas.
Specific Entry Requirements Applicants must have completed the academic stage of training by having completed a qualifying law degree or GDL/CPE conversion course or have gained Fellowship of the Institute of Legal Executives. Proof of this must be obtained from the SRA together with student membership of the SRA before enrolment on the course.
Student Testimonial “The quality of the course and the exceptional calibre of the teaching staff is reflected in the confidence that local and regional firms have placed in the Anglia LPC, who frequently visit campus to recruit or offer mentoring opportunities to students. The strong connections that the faculty enjoys with the legal community, and their focus on employability was soon apparent. Within a month of starting the LPC a respected Cambridge firm came on to campus to recruit paralegals through a rigorous set of interviews. I was successful in obtaining a position as a paralegal in the firm’s private client department and gained invaluable experience. After completing the LPC the firm offered me a training contract which I was delighted to accept. The staff operate an open door policy, are more than approachable, and were always on hand to clarify any points arising from lectures or workshops. Perhaps most impressive was the fact that every staff member knew us individually and their pastoral care was sincere; not always the case with larger providers.” Dr Karl Dembicki
