PG Dip Legal Practice Course brochure

The Legal Practice Course is a postgraduate course for those wishing to qualify as solicitors. Successful completion of the course enables students to enter employment as a trainee solicitor. This traineeship is usually for a two year period. The course is validated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and is endorsed

by Skillsmark (the quality mark for programmes in the justice sector).

Assessment We use a combination of timed open book supervised assessments, closed book supervised assessments, oral practical and course work style assessments across the course. Unlike many other providers our students undertake full-scale mock assessments in all areas.

Specific Entry Requirements Applicants must have completed the academic stage of training by having completed a qualifying law degree or GDL/CPE conversion course or have gained Fellowship of the Institute of Legal Executives. Proof of this must be obtained from the SRA together with student membership of the SRA before enrolment on the course.

Support We pride ourselves on a high standard of pastoral care which is not always available from larger providers. Why study our Legal Practice Course Location We offer the LPC at both the Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses. Both our campuses are centrally located, with good transport links and are within easy walking distance of the train stations. Both have regular rail connections with London and the train takes about 35 minutes to Chelmsford and 50 minutes to Cambridge.

Flexible and Blended-Learning Taught over one year, we are the only institution in the UK to offer full-time study over 2 fixed days per week (Cambridge only). Our students are able to study around other commitments including employment and training opportunities. Most lectures are delivered by “i-lecture”, watched by students remotely, adding further flexibility. The Chelmsford LPC is delivered over four days per week and all learning is face to face.
