Semi-Annual SALE 2014 Tis the season to transition from “Giving” to buying for yourself (and hopefully redeeming gift cards)! We are starting a new tradition here at Altar’d State…a Semi-Annual Sale! Two times a year we are going to clean house! This is a time to get things marked down, sold thru, and make room for new goods. The Semi-Annual Sale will begin on Christmas Eve in stores, but won’t be promoted to the customers until the day after Christmas. This will allow you to execute prior to opening on Christmas Eve and be able to lock the doors at closing and go home to prep for your Merry Christmas Day! There are three parts to this execution. 1. Window installation 2. Semi-Annual Sale Signs 3. Removal of Christmas Decorations (after New Year’s)

Window Installation • • • •
Elements for the Semi-Annual Window are to be installed no later than by opening on 12/24. All windows (with the exception of select TOMS windows) will remain the same other than adding the elements sent to you for the Semi-Annual Sale. Stores with TOMS windows will remove all TOMS elements and install new for Semi-Annual SALE (specific instructions will follow later in this document). Review your store’s specific floorplan for placement of all elements. You may need to adjust a little to accommodate additional items.
Barnwood SALE Sign Your barnwood SALE signs already have shackles on them for ease in hanging. Utilize thicker twine when hanging this sign. • Double the length you will need for the twine. • Fold the twine in half, insert the curve thru the shackle, and pull the loose ends through the curve. See photo A • Pull the twine tight around the shackle. See photo B • Use two “S” hooks in the grid to run your twine across and tie the loose ends off on the other shackle. • The height of your sign should be about 2’ from the floor depending on the height of your window.
Tip: Placement is guided in your floorplan, but you may need to adjust depending on where you have dead space. Typically you want it hanging in the opposite side of the window from your mantle. A)

Barnwood SALE Frames You will receive barnwood frames that spell out SALE and these will replace the stockings. To prep for this follow the instructions below (we have included the yarn that you will utilize to hang the frames with your shipment). • Tie a knot on one end of each piece of yarn. • Use a staple gun to attach two pieces of yarn to the backside of the frame. Staple just above the knot. • Tie the frames on the nails that are in your shelf. Make sure you tie them high enough so the top of the frame rest against the shelf to keep the frame from turning. • Complete this for all of your frames. Tip: You may need to weigh down the backside of your shelf to counter balance the weight of your frames. Maybe place candles or décor that is heavier to do so. Keep it simple though…don’t over decorate the shelf. Your stockings are to be placed in your existing inventory to be sold. All you need to do is make sure they have price tags on them. We have already taken care of the operational side of things.

You will also receive canvas banners that have SemiAnnual and SALE printed on them. These will arrive separately from your other elements. They are being shipped directly from the vendor via FedEx or UPS along with your Semi-Annual signs. There are multiple ways to execute these banners. • Use a little hot glue and adhere cater-cornered to your frames that are hanging in the window. • Undress two mannequins and pin Semi Annual to one and SALE to the other. Make sure they are pinned (when facing the mannequin) from left to right with the left side at the waist and the right towards the shoulder. Place the mannequins side by side. • Use them inside the store on mannequins or on the frames in the window.

SALE Shutters Select stores will also receive shutters with SALE painted on them. Review your inventory and floorplan for placement. These may be hung with monofilament. Tip: Use the same method as you did for the Barnwood SALE Sign to make it easier to hang and level.
SALE Shopping Bags We have sent you “hand stamped” shopping bags in three sizes. These are to be utilized throughout the store on shelves and tables. Ways to use them are… • Hang in barnwood frames on your shelves. • Stuff with tissue and place in groupings on your shelves and tables (tissue may be purchased at craft store with paid out).
Sale Room SALE Sign Select stores will be receiving signs to place above or next to the entrance to their sale rooms. Review the inventory sheet for notification of who will receive. They come with the hanging system already attached and the hook and nail is packaged with each sign. If your store already has a SALE sign outside of the sale room, replace it with this one and utilize your old sign within the sale room.
Stores with TOMS Windows • • •
Remove and dispose of all TOMS Christmas windows ***Except the Giving Shoe*** Stores with TOMS in front of Marble-you are complete! Stores with TOMS in regular windows-you have a little more to do. -Use “S” hooks or metal hanging hooks to suspend the provided Burlap Panels (painted side facing out). -Make sure they are evenly spaced across the back of your window -Review your floorplan for additional elements that will hang in your window. -Fill with Mannequins. You made need to pull a few from other windows to ensure your window is full. Tip: Your Burlap Panels may not be exactly the same length. Hang them so that some puddles on the floor to hide the inconsistency.

Semi Annual Sale Signs Semi-Annual SALE Signs You will receive multiple versions of signs for this event. Instructions will be sent in your Daily Communications as to which promotion and sign will be utilized and when. There are versions that can be used in frames, placed on books, and in your wood stumps. As always, make sure they are placed so they can be seen and to group merchandise together when it makes sense.
All of the above instructions should be implemented no later than in the AM Tues 12/24 before you open.
Removal of Christmas Deocrations Stores will be extracting all things Christmas prior to store opening on Monday 1/6. We wanted to extend the Christmas romance during the New Year Celebration. Because stores will be inundated with task prepping for inventory during the week of New Years, we have decided to wait until then. Instructions for this will follow at a later date.
