Merchandising Gifts Placement of gifts is just as important as clothes, accessories, and shoes. As a matter of fact, it can make your store look great…or cluttered if not done correctly. This guide will give you a few pointers to enhance your gift presentations.
Steps for Merchandising •

Sort your gifts by personality…just as you would your clothes. What type of décor would a Romantic girl use in her home. There may be some cross over (styles or brands that may work better in multiple personalities). Think of your gifts as a collection. Items should look great together and make a cohesive statement. Find the balance between a clean presentation and creating interest. Don’t line items up like soldiers, but don’t create too much clutter by mixing everything up. It’s a fine line and can be executed with a detailed eye and editing. Think of a personality as a home. There are walls, tables, and accent pieces just like your house. One “look” should be carried through a personality while another personality should represent another “look”.
Brands like Kelly Rae Roberts make a statement when presented as a collection.

When placing signs…don’t duplicate. Place them behind each other to make room to front something else.
Never over crowd your shelves with too many gifts. This is not to say that they can’t be full, just not overly done. Gifts should not be placed in an area on the wall where garments can knock them over. Only put gifts on a shelf under clothes if there is adequate room for a presentation. Keep candles grouped by brand within a personality. Example: All Voluspa would be in Romantic and Himalayan in Boho. Merchandise different containers of the same scent together. Stack or group in sets with an accent of one or two. You may use a few to accent a table, but keep the majority housed in one location. Items placed on the top shelf display should be represented in the wall below. If needed, create a system for backstocking. Don’t over stock the presentation. Fulfillment should occur daily to ensure items are out on the floor and represented.
Creating vignettes help keep the clutter down and the presentation clean.
