LauraJane Card Designer
I’m a wife, happily married for over 30 years. Mom to 6 amazingly unique people, and enjoying the life of being a Nana! We live in the Midwest of the USA.
I went from scrapbooking in the late 90’s to cardmaking in 2012 when acrylic stamping rocked my world! While scrapbooking is a family treasure it always stressed me out that the books were never quite “caught up.” Finishing a card in a short amount of time is so much more rewarding and less stressful!
The need to make something every day is often accomplished in my craft room. Other days it’s in the kitchen, however, papercrafts don’t add to my waistline like cooking does. :)

Q & A
with LauraJane
1. Which project has been your favorite or what was the most meaningful to make?
In 2018, Build-A-Flower Peruvian Lily is featured in a card and my first HOOP ART project where I embroidered the stamp outlines and layers.
Coloring the card was a labor of love using Artistic Markers at my mother’s bedside during home hospice. And stitching the hoop art was a blessing during those first days of grieving mom’s passing on to the other side. Yes, crafting can be the best therapy!
2. How would you describe your personal crafting style?
My cards can be all over the place, but mostly they are of the soft floral mixed media style.
3. Where do you find inspiration?
The artistry in nature is a huge inspiration for me.
4. What advice would you give newbie cardmakers and paper crafters out there?
Please give at least three. Enjoy the process of making something you love. Find quality supplies that suit your style and budget. Embrace the imperfections in your projects.
5. If you can only do one cardmaking technique for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Watercoloring.

6. How do you deal with “crafter’s block” or being stuck in a rut?
The Altenew Academy Student Galleries are a utopia of inspiration.
7. How do you deal with crafting mistakes? Do you get rid of the card and work on a new one or try to salvage it?
Mistakes are ideal learning opportunities to see how a piece can be salvaged, often becoming a favorite One-of-a-Kind piece of art.
8. What is your Altenew story?
All-time Favorite Product:
artist Markers
How did you first learn about Altenew, your first Altenew product, blog hop, etc? In 2014, I was introduced to Tasnim and Jen during the OCC Watercolor for Cardmakers class and was thrilled to see their own company ALTENEW! Painted Flowers was my first stamp set:) and often participated in the card challenges. Late 2016 was my first Bloghop with Altenew.
9. What is your all-time favorite Altenew product? Pick one!
Hands down, the ARTIST MARKERS are my favorite.
10. Please tell us a fun/quirky/interesting fact about you that most people don’t know about.
As much as I love flowers, I can’t seem to grow anything that isn’t perennial. My house plants are plastic.
Bonus Question: If you could create your “dream craft room”, what would it look like?
I love my craft room which started out as the homeschool room for our kids. I share the desk with my husband so it must be tidy. The only thing I would change is having the Photo lights and camera suspended from the ceiling to free up more table space.
