Annual Fund Donor Update 2012

Page 1

Since they began, universities have traditionally envisaged a brighter future for themselves than their own resources would allow. We at Anglia Ruskin University are no exception! I am glad to say that an increasing number of supporters are helping us to realise our ambitious imaginings through a series of magnificent and generous donations. People are giving us help according to their means, often as a recognition of the great benefits they feel their time at Anglia Ruskin University (and its predecessor institutions) bestowed upon them. They have realised that, collectively, a large number of quite modest contributions can make such a difference – for example, when part of our annual fund. May I say a big ‘thank-you’ to all those who have given, be it £1 or £1million. Future generations of students are going to benefit from your kindness and the vision we all share of Anglia Ruskin moving onwards and upwards faster than many would ever have believed possible. Have a wonderful summer.

Together,

making a difference

Thanks to the generosity of you and our other alumni, we are delighted to have received a total pledged amount of £38,000 during this year’s annual fund. This will help to make a real difference to our university, our students and to the everyday lives of people who are impacted by the amazing work that is happening at Anglia Ruskin University. THIS IS HOW YOU ARE HELPING US TO MAKE A REAL IMPACT

WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY

n Our new ‘Alumni Support Scholarship Fund’ will ensure that talented students seeking extra financial support are given the chance to study at Anglia Ruskin

“I decided to make a donation to the Annual Fund because I understand how important it is to provide financial support to those who really are gifted and talented, and may otherwise struggle to afford even the most basic of equipment and text books etc. I was fortunate in that my parents were able to fund the cost of my university tuition, and even then I had to find a job to pay for my accommodation and living expenses. I am pleased to help students who deserve to be in higher education.”

n Those of you who donated to our Postgraduate Medical Institute for medical research are helping to fund clinical trials investigating new ways to identify and treat breast cancer n 15% of you donated to Music Therapy which will be used to provide more treatment for people with a wide range of special needs and physical disabilities, as well as supporting student placements n Supporters of the Library Fund helped us to purchase 20 e-books, providing an everlasting resource for future generations of students at Anglia Ruskin n The majority of you chose to make your donation to our General Fund to provide for some of the most pressing priorities on campus. This fund will be distributed over the coming months and we look forward to sharing with you how our students lives have been changed through your generosity 1%
