beautiful masks are worn to hide the identity of the wearer, initiating an amusing game of hide and seek, searching for clues that lead to the discovery of a person’s identity. In Porte d’Acqua each beautiful door is like that of the mask. While the beauty of the photograph is there for the viewer to consider, there are also clues given with each picture to be used in two modern day games of hide and seek. One takes place physically in Venice called Geocaching®, the other is a virtual game accessed through Google Earth®. If you choose to play these games of hide and seek, the journey you will embark on will guide you through an elegant maze along the back canals of Venice where you will become interwoven in a timeless world of ancient culture and beauty. Porte d’Acqua offers a unique approach to discover the beauty of Venice, and it is in the playful spirit of the Carnevale di Venezia that I offer for your enjoyment Porte d’Acqua!
Per migliaia di anni Venezia e’ stata il luogo dove si giocavano giochi di inganno e di scoperte e viaggiatori da tutto il mondo arrivavano in massa per partecipare. Durante il Carnevale di Venezia bellissime maschere vengono indossate per nascondere l’identita’ delle persone e iniziare cosi un divertente gioco “ a nascondino” dove si cercano indizi per scoprire l’identita’ nascosta dietro la maschera. In Porte d’Acqua ogni bellissima porta e’ come una maschera. Mentre la bellezza della fotografia e’ la’ per essere apprezzata dall’osservatore, ci sono anche indizi dati con ogni fotografia per essere usati con due moderni giochi di “ chi cerca trova”. Uno di questi giochi, chiamato Geocaching ®,si svolge fisicamente a Venezia. L’altro e’ un gioco virtuale che si accede attraverso Google Earth®. Se decidi di giocare questi giochi il viaggio in cui ti imbarchi ti guidera’ attraverso un elegante labirinto lungo i canali nascosti di Venezia, dove ti troverai immerso in un mondo senza tempo e in una bellissima e antica cultura. A Photographic Journey Along the Back Canals of Venice
Contrary to rumor, one can never get lost in Venice. If however, you are lucky, you might set out for a destination and unexpectedly find yourself adrift in an ageless city flooded with saturated colors and textures, with its shifting antiquity spilling out creating its own form. There you will be, without the slightest concern for time or place. Contrariamente a cio’ che si dice, nessuno puo’ perdersi a Venezia. Se per caso, e con un po’ di fortuna, ci riuscissi e, avviandoti verso una destinazione ti trovassi inaspettatamente smarrito in una citta’ senza tempo, inondata di colori ed esperienze tattili, una citta’ con le sue mutevoli antichita’ che creano le loro proprie forme, la’ troverai te stesso senza la minima preoccupazione per il tempo o il luogo.
