EXHIBITION DESIGN
anthropological liberties ‘Anthropological Liberties’ is trend designed to draw attention to the political world around us. It challeneges authority and questions why or human rights are constantly under threat. It asks the consumer to stand up and take action to protect their civil liberties. This exhibition is inspired by the things we leave behind at protests, why do we leave them, and does it define an universal protest uniform. I am inspired by collections and collectors. I enjoy seeing things on display and often comment that I curate my life and lifestyle. I also enjoy seeing things out of context and with both of these in mind developed the feel of my exhibition. The exhibition will display items from demonstrations around the U.K that I have collected myself. They will be items that have been left behind once the march/protest drifts away. These can be items from coffee cups to shoes, to signs and paint cans. Some of the items will be displayed in photograph form, either photographed on location or in a studio, and other will be displayed in perspex boxes. These will be situated around a sensory pod in which an immersive experience will take place. Some of these items will be available to touch and smell. The immersive experience will be a pod for one person only at a time, in the pod there will be a chair and a pair of VR glasses + noise cancelling headphones. The user will be required to wear both. The experience will constist of video imagery of protest, some will be POV and some will be third person. The clips will vary from clips filmed by myself at current protest, to my fashion film, historical clips and dark black screens. Particularly when the screen is dark I would like to play music, sounds of protest, people talking about their experiences. I would like people to leave questioning their stance on protest, politics, their human rights, the rights of others and to hopefully see things in a different perspective
