Through the disconnect of the urban condition, to ourselves and our neighbors, this design aims to blurr the lines between the public and the private realm by establishing visual connections between the apartment and the library program. Throughout, varying floors and ceiling heights support and enhance the “shared wall” experience which allows a glimps into a neighboring living or library space.

COOPERATIVE LIVING, NEW ORLEANS
Sustainable Co-op
This project aims to promote community engagement by the implementation of sustainability and nutrition. The primary programs are exterior roof garden-terraces, which also function as social spaces. In partnership with the nearby Goldring Center of Culinary Medicine of Tulane University and the Farm to School program, this program allows medical students to study the effects of nutrition and healthy diets related to illnesses and diseases. Within this living community, Students and elderly would be able to live together, work on the co-op garden and cook together to improve nutrition and diet within the living community. Part of the program would be offering cooking classes for the community and running a small café that reflects the nutritional value of the program.

DREAM SPACE
7
SLEEP AND SHELTER
This project is about the carving of mass by controlled light to begin one’s journey into a deeper spatial relationship with one’s self and the ground. Uninfluenced by outside elements, the carved void becomes an ideal dreaming and reflection space. While the void is generated by various sun angles, the space itself is limited to light, allowing it to enter only at specific hours of the day, reflecting into the space for a calm awakening.
“By a route obscure and lonely, Haunted by ill angelsonly, Where an Eidolon, named NIGHT, On a black throne reigns upright, I have reached these lands but newly, From an ultimate dim Thule- From wild weird clime that lieth, sublime, Out of SPACE - Out of TIME” -Edgar Allen Poe, Dream-Land
REFUGEE CENTER - COMMUNITY DINING
8
The dining hall was created with a focus around the concept of creating a therapeutic environment for the refugees. The community center takes advantage of the views of the trees as a calming and relaxing experience. In adition to the existing program, a rock climing wall and zip line were added as an activity related therapeutic experience as well as a studio on the interior (second floor).
COURT YARD STUDY
9
For the courtyard study we were given a set boundary of spaces and adjacent buildings. I generated a grid, by rotating this boundary 45 degrees. A l my spaces are centered around an accessible body of water that can also be used as an outdoor eating area. The entry slope is made up of a individual wood frames, framing your view of the body of water as you enter. The food prep and interior dining are semi open spaces with windows towards the courtyard. My interior resting space, is an indoor garden space made up of cantilevered planes off of which vines grow providing shade for rest and relaxation.
DIGGING AND MOUNDING
10
Through rotations of the given rectangle, and the overlapping edges I created vertical carvings that mimic the overlapping shape. The concept for my space was that its back faรงade is connected to a hillside that continues onto the roof of the mass making this an accessible space. On the interior, there are a series of steps and pillars that lead you towards an opening of the mass, revealing a window into the hillside, which funnels light into the space at specific times of the day.
