Digitally Crafted Dreamscape
Through the investigation of form and space, an ideal dream space is created by the manipulation of our reality. By creating a space which resembles a familiar condition, and imbedding it into an abstract surreal form. We intended to manipulate our dream scape by means of an abandoned carcass which has become over grown with vines and branches, creating a new kind of enclosure. By varying vines, creating
“By a route obscure and lonely, Haunted by ill angels only, Where an Eidolon, named NIGHT, On a black throne reigns upright, I have reached these lands but newly From an ultimate dim Thule— From a wild weird clime that lieth, sublime, Out of SPACE—Out of TIME” Dream Land -Edgar Allen Poe
Process By the placement of a skull within the model space, we were able to establish a geometric boundary to our space. We then began to sculpt with clay in various sizes and strokes to create our dreamscape. At first we attempted to create more rectilinear strokes, trying to reform in the interior of the skull. However, we soon realized that it would be more successful if we simple sculpted curvilinearly, first creating contours of the scull, then expanding to create a structure within the contour which could be inhabitable. This lent itself to become very vine like, by connecting the curvilinear structures.
