Experience

My education and training over the past seven years has been exciting and very rewarding. I have been able to complement my design interests with a variety of academic courses in studio design, architectural history, structures, building technology and business management. My focus in design, coupled with my Bachelor Of Interior Design degree from the University of Oklahoma and Master of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon provides me with a comprehensive set of professional design skills. I am very excited about the opportunity of joining Gensler after graduation and starting my professional career in architecture and interior design. I hope you enjoy my portfolio.

Timber in the City

2 Designed to encourage an interaction between manufacturing and experimenting with engineered wood, LIVE WOOD, proposes a prototype for collaborative living, working, and creating. All of the buildings have intricate connections between the concrete podium and the timber structure above. The tall housing slab demonstrates the best example of cross-laminated timber construction (CLT). The buildings provide unique spaces to live, teach, and learn in an adaptive connected world. An interplay of minds and hands in the FabLab puts wood at the forefront of an emerging collaborative culture, fed by the products of the manufacturing plant. Eastern softwoods are brought from the waterfront and turned into innovative timber products in our manufacturing plant. Newly finished CLT is loaded into the ground-level warehouse for shipment (or lifted via crane) to be customized on the routers, lasercutters, and built in the fabrication lab. The structure itself expresses the novel tectonics of CLT folded plates and glulams. Electricity comes from solar cells and small-turbine boilers that are powered by scrap waste. It is an end-to-end process, a prototyping center for clean, scalable methods. The craft culture opens possibilities for people to be engaged in the building of thoughtful wood designs. New ideas create jobs for engineers and plant workers alike. Density in human habitation, in coordination with activities and services, creates thriving self-sufficient communities that are guardians of a robust future. Hosted by: Binational Softwood Lumber Council (BSLC), Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) School of Constructed Environments at Parsons The New School for Design (SCE).

Respiro Performing Arts Center

This project aims to culturally define Oklahoma City through the realization of two main buildings; a multifunctional building for performing arts and a joint cultural center. The form draws inspiration from the city itself. The city is not separate but rather it is joined together by a common link to the community and adjacent buildings. The Performing Arts Center consists of three theaters which are connected by a grand foyer that offers a hybrid experience for patrons. The foyer contains a multi-level arrangement that includes bars, cafe restaurants, specialty shops, and other forms of entertainment. The culture center consists of activities such as art galleries spaces, bookstores, and the theatre library. The Grand Plaza will provide a large outdoor space for pedestrians that visit this urban downtown area.

AAA School

6 The School of Architecture and the Arts proposes new ideas for enhancing the learning process through collaboration; bringing together the studies of architecture, landscape architecture, fine art, product design, and graphic design. The Super Studio houses multiple studio spaces for each discipline. Studio spaces are adjacent to computer labs, fabrication rooms, and output rooms; providing collective learning opportunities that openly express the process of input, experimentation, and output. The Super Studio serves the purpose of fusing together various disciplines into two large openplan studio spaces. The Super Studio serves many functions and facilitates multi-disciplinary learning. Modeled after the current trend of open collaborative office spaces, the Super Studio promotes forward thinking and introduces the idea of joining the professional world.

Culinary Marketplace The Culinary Marketplace is a place for exchange...An exchange of food, knowledge, and taste palettes through social encounters. This culinary center in Portland, OR aims to promote community exploration into the culinary process through an engaging series of activities that focus on maintaining an interactive atmosphere and a hands-on approach to culinary explorations. The conversational nature of the building forms allows for a sense of connection between each building as well as a connection with the in-between space that is allotted to circulation and the market. Inspired by the meandering streets of old cities, the market space allows for movement and high levels of interaction.

Urban Community Health Alliance

10 The Urban Community Health Alliance, in honor of Wayman Tisdale, will provide specialty testing and treatment for urgent care, dialysis, and chemotherapy health concerns to a part of North Tulsa that is currently underserved by the philanthropy foundation, local hospitals, and the State of Oklahoma. Our group facilitated a first look at the relationship between community health and healthcare design. Our goal was to bring families, children, adults and elders together using integrated health care solutions. Our design solution promoted collaboration between each of the specialty uses within the healthcare center. The design team consisted of two architectural students and two interior design students (Maria Colmenares, Sam Day, Hayden Reid and Alyssa Smith).
