Global Retailers Bid to Open For New Terminal at Abu Dhabi Airport Abu Dhabi Duty Free has invited international retailers for bidding for its new terminal which will be functional in July 2017. Owing to its outstanding infrastructure, Midfield Terminal Building (MTB) would be a vital hub for the massive transits taking place at the airport. According to an estimate almost 30 million passengers would be transiting through it. 28,000 square metres of space is up for lease, where 18,000 square metres is going to be for retail while food and beverage outlets would take 10,000 square metres. Moreover, according to Abu Dhabi Duty Free, optimisation of space and designing would be done with the help of international consultants. As Mohammad Al Bulooki, Chief Commercial Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said, “Abu Dhabi Airports is calling on ambitious, innovative retailers, food and beverage operators, as well as leading brands from all over the world to participate in this commercial process.” It is to be seen how retailers would add to the customer experience and convenience at the new terminal. "Abu Dhabi Airports looks forward to working with such partners to make Abu Dhabi’s Midfield Terminal Building the jewel in the crown in the UAE’s transport infrastructure," said Al Bulooki.
