Sharjah and Abu Dhabi Transportation Plans Unveiled For Travelers on Eid Free parking areas in Abu Dhabi as well as extra bus trips and routes in Sharjah have been decided in order to facilitate passengers and provide a comfortable journey during Eid Holidays. Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi (DoT) has publicized free parking in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for the duration of the Eid Al Fitr holidays. Owners can park their vehicles free of charge starting from Sunday July 27, from 12:01 am, until Saturday August 2, till 8 am. Charges for parking vehicles will however be charged on Saturday July 26th and August 2nd, informed the DoT in order to avoid any inconvenience. Customer care centers such as Muroor Road, Al Falah Street, Central Market and Electra Customer Care will remain off during the Eid Holidays, from July 27th until August 1, 2014. For Sharjah, the Roads and Transport Authority has also stated that measures will be taken to facilitate public transportation. 2415 bus trips will be made available during the three days of Eid holidays. 915 trips on the bus will be provided for within Sharjah and another 1500 trips for customers travelling between emirates. To manage traffic, a total of 75 buses will be provided for transportation within the emirate and 300 buses for transportation between emirates will be made available for the nine day Eid holiday. In order to manage traffic and handle operation of transport strategically, the additional bus routes for intercity and intra city have been planned for Sharjah in order to provide better customer experience to travelers. 15 different routes will be used by over 300 buses to avoid long waiting periods for passengers. Moreover, extra staff has been appointed to manage and handle the call center of the Sharjah taxis so faster response can be given to customers calling in for taxis. All types of taxi services, such as ladies only taxis, family taxis or even taxis for the disabled etc, will be available for customers to book 24/7.
