Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) The Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) is a statutory authority established under the Aboriginal Housing Act 1998 (NSW) and is governed by an all-Aboriginal Board that provides advice to the Minister for Family and Community Services. Through principles of self-determination, the AHO’s purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to safe affordable, quality housing that is appropriate to their social and cultural needs. The AHO also works in partnership with Aboriginal Community Housing Providers and the Aboriginal community to develop a financially sustainable sector to improve housing and opportunities for Aboriginal people.
