Collect 2014 with Contemporary Applied Arts
Amanda Simmons - Kilnformed Glass
Gravity Works Collection (2014) : Campaign Set Voyager I and II, Cluster and a selection of small slumped vessels in groups. This collection of work continued my experiments in forming glass with gravity in the kiln. Heavily influenced by the adventures of Voyager I and II out of the solar system, now the furthest travelled human made objects. I imagined their continuing journey through our expanding Universe. o Campaign Set Voyager II (2014) - As with all unknown journeys we like to have a bit of comfort or memory of home and I like to imagine the Voyagers will meet someone to share a wee dram with using this carafe and vessel set. o Cluster (2014) – Inspired by the clustering of atoms to make the many hundreds of elements in the Universe. o Gravity Works Sets (2014) – Varying mass, heat, time and colour to influence the form of the vessel.
