Amanda Simmons - Kilnformed Glass

In the studio (2013)

Starting inspiration (2013)

Paper samples (2013)

Achnacraig – Croft House (2011)

4and20 A collection of 24 small kilnformed glass vessels made with glass powders. Since moving to a rural area I have been more aware of the fragility of nature, 4and20 is a memorial to those beautiful birds that exist fleetingly.

Bird and Bone Large kilnformed glass vessel Bird and Bone is a continuing look at fragile nature and the constant reminder of death across the fields and roads in Scotland.

Swallows in the studio (2012)

Feather from the Swallows A collection of pieces inspired by a floating feather delivered by one of the swallows who visit and breed in my workshop each year.

Buoys in Lybster Harbour (2011)

North Lands Folded Platter Heavily influenced by the buoys in Lybster harbour whilst on residence at North Lands Creative Glass in Caithness.

Seaweed at Scrabster (2011)

North Lands Platter A large more simple gravity slump into a platter form with the markings and colours of Caithness whilst on residency.
