STUDIO PRACTICE Statement of Intent Name Blog Address Aggie Date 17/01/2016 a-‐mardiyah1316.blogspot.com Rationale During this module I'd like to take on projects that will propel me in the direction of my chosen future career; to gain more experience and develop a portfolio that will be relevant for what I want to be doing in a few years time (Vis Dev artist & Children’s Book Illustrator). I would also like to take on projects that will allow me to explore my other interests outside of the animation industry and further improve my problem solving skills. This will further diversify my portfolio and as a result will make me more adaptable to different types of design work and make me more hirable. Brief 1:
Deadline
1st March 2016
(They want it to be ready The Little Astronaut for Abu Dhabi book fair, 27 April – 3 May) Rationale: I have been commissioned by a publishing company in Dubai to illustrate their upcoming children’s book ‘The Little Astronaut’. The book’s aim is to inform the young generation about how astronauts live and function in space. The book will be in Arabic and distributed across GCC/Middle East countries. This brief allows me to develop my children’s illustration portfolio, but also will hopefully increase my exposure over in the UAE/GCC/Middle East countries -‐ which in time, I hope will open up more doors for me! Brief 2: Deadline 9th May 2016 Layla’s Liver Transplant Rationale: Continuing from the success of the first book about having a kidney transplant, Leeds Children’s hospital have asked me to work with them again to illustrate the second children’s book that they will be producing about having a liver transplant. Brief 3: Deadline 9th May 2016 Damous Adventure Shop Rationale: I have been asked to create t-‐shirt designs based on the theme of ‘adventure’. This is something that quite excites me as I have a passion for travel, exploring new places, sights and going on adventures. They’ve given me the freedom to come up with anything I want, so I will use this opportunity to explore more into traditional processes such as screen-‐printing. Brief 4: Deadline 9th May 2016 Paper cut Yearbook Rationale: To improve my character design and papercutting skills, I will be making papercut portraits of my course mates and compile them into a book at the end of it! A little bit like a yearbook (but not really) its perfect since it’s our last year! Brief 5: Deadline 24th March 2016 YCN -‐ Royal Opera House (Collaborative) Rationale: Taking on a YCN brief requires me to conduct myself more professionally, and to produce work and present them at a more professional standard. It will also push me to be more disciplined with my punctuality and time management, as they have a fixed deadline. I will be collaborating with Becca for this as will allow us to create something (hopefully) quite substantial. Additional Project Proposals Valentines Day ‘Love Birds’ Papercut greeting cards (Deadline Feb 2016) Collaborative – background designs for Fiona’s animation project. th
