Operations BP objectives: To generate at least 2,152 additional new jobs and realize additional income of P150 to P180 on the average.

 Intermittent operation last year 2021  No operations since January 2022  With available 60 tons of Coco Fiber (as per inventory)  No operating capital to recuperate with the operations  PG requested a budget of 480,000.00 used in the operations in CY 2021.  Operating capital was already used in producing fiber, and all inventory of coco peat was already sold (Sales reported was used in payment of electric bills and personnel in-charge in the operations)  Five manpower were involved in the operations, with a salary of 310.00 each for laborer and 400 for one skilled worker, producing 60 sacks of coco peat made from short fibers within 5 hours.

(700 sacks (100.00 per sack/100L. pickup). The target date of delivery is July 17, 2022.

Rationale of the activity:

 To assess the enterprise operations and aide to recommend possible solutions, ways forward and sustainability of the enterprise

Goal of the activity:

LPMPC enterprise to continuously operate with the involvement of farmer-beneficiaries, sustainable market and expand competitively to global market

Preliminary:

Introduction of Data Capture Form (DCF) (Data sets for each IREAP subproject)  Data Capture Form (DCF) was introduced to the PG secretary as part of the operations monitoring requirements.  To be accomplished by the end of the month, continuously updating every transaction or by the end of every month.  DCF is uploaded via google drive; updating should be done on or before the first week of the succeeding month.

 USAID provided training to the proponent group to strengthen the cooperatives and action planning and financial management.  Profiling of their farmer-suppliers to be conducted.  With core management staff.  TRIAS to assist the proponent group in converting waste into biogas and organic fertilizer. This project is still being conceptualized.

 PG is currently coordinating with a local supplier regarding package and label supply in response to their issue with the shortage of packaging for use in processing pineapple juice.  For coordination with San Miguel and other local suppliers to hasten operations

 PG continuously conducts research and studies on product improvement.

 Blast freezer

 The blast freezer is not fully utilized yet due to a lack of market for pineapple puree.

 Kettles

 All four (4) kettles will be utilized since there is a sufficient supply of raw materials that can process 100,000 pcs of pineapple in two weeks, but there is not enough market to be supplied with (yet).

 Product costing  PG is asking for assistance with of raw materials finance to revise/update their product and ingredients costing

Action to be Undertaken/ Ways Forward  PG will regain additional markets once schools resume face-to-face classes.  Market surveillance for pineapple puree will be conducted in Cavite and Laguna in the 3rd quarter of CY 2022.  Three cooperatives will be the PG’s buying station under the GROWCoop funded by the USAID objective is to strengthen the agricooperatives under the pineapple value chain.  PG is exploring market ventures with supermarkets, e.g., Gaisano.

Component Exit Meeting

Issues and Concerns 

Exit meeting was conducted with PLGU-PPMIU to discussed the output of the activities.

Initial recommendations were discussed (stated in the above table), for approval of PPMIU Head and I-REAP Head of the Province of Camarines Norte

Organizational Meeting with SOFACOFA Officer and Members will be scheduling this July or August. PPMIU I-REAP to coordinate with the PG and RPCO V IREAP pledge for the meals of the participants.

Meeting with LMPMPC was also set this July 2022. Tapping of other focal persons or technical personnel of PLGU that are technically equipped that will provide assistance to PG.
