GENERATIVE OBJECT FIRST YEAR GRADUATE COMPREHENSIVE STUDIO Completed as an embodiment of the site in OTR Cincinnati and as an exploration of detail, by combining craftsmanship and digital fabrication. Representation, site analysis and an understanding of material and connection were critical to the project.

BREWERY - SCHEMATIC DESIGN FIRST YEAR GRADUATE COMPREHENSIVE STUDIO Using the generative object and related drawings as an engine, a brewery and hybrid program were selected based on history and present condition of the site. The constraints of the program, a 50â&#x20AC;&#x2122; vertical grade change and retaining wall bisecting the site provided significant challenges and opportunities for the project.

HO-CHUNK NATION CASINO VARIOUS LOCATIONS, WI PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Working from initial concept through CD’s on four seperate casino/hotel locations, all within 2 hrs of Wisconsin Dells, WI. Each property is a combination of renovation and new build. I was responsible for the design and coordination of Event Centers and Restrooms across all properties; the 3 Meal Restaurant and Snack Bar at Wittenberg; and the Buffet at Wisconsin Dells. I completed full design and documentation for the 3 Meal Restaurant and Buffet venues. FULL DESIGN DESIGN SUPPORT

RESEARCH + CONCEPT HO-CHUNK NATION CASINO - ALL PROPERTIES We sought to keep a common theme of â&#x20AC;&#x153;Native Wisconsinâ&#x20AC;? throughout all four properties to strengthen the brand and reduce cost where applicable. All properties will be inspired by common natural traits, while allowing the specifc nature of each location to influence its respective property both in material and form. BUFFET HO-CHUNK NATION CASINO - WISCONSIN DELLS, WI The 300 seat buffet renovation is a physical interpretation of the surrounding environment of Wisconsin Dells and incorporates elements inspired by the Ho-chunk Nation. It is both a response to its location and the challenging existing structure of the space. The central circulation core and heavy vertical elements juxtaposed with the curvilinear perimeter mimic the relationship between the rocks and river at the Dells; details and materials reference the surrounding forests and local birch trees. The primary focus of the space was to convey these concepts while providing a functional and durable space for users and staff. The space needed to be bright, fun, clearly demonstate tribal inspiration and accomodate serving a variety of food options and occupancies throughout the day. DOCUMENTS PROPERY OF HBG

EVENT CENTER HO-CHUNK NATION CASINO BLACK RIVER FALLS, WI

SPEAKER

Redesign of a 9,000 sq ft ballroom and associated prefunction, green room and BOH support space. Primary intent was to integrate speakers, airwalls and acoustic treatment in a manner that reinforces the aesthetic concept of the space and allows for maximum performance. Aesthetic concept was derived from the growth, power, and movement that characterize the city of Black River Falls.

HIGH END HOSPITALITY SUITES LOCATION: CONFIDENTIAL PROFESSIONAL WORK Hardgoods renovation of 3 levels of high end suites for a turn of the century themed resort. Redesign included space planning, FF&E selection, and presentation rendering for executive approval.

COMPLETED PRESIDENTIAL SUITE The suite design remained very consistent with the renderings presented at the DD presentation. Artwork, Mirror and accessories package was completed before installation. THEMED LOBBY SOFTGOODS REHAB LOCATION: CONFIDENTIAL PROFESSIONAL WORK Softgoods renovation of a rustic, turn of the century themed timeshare resort. The theme resembles a western railroad hotel in the late 1800â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s and incorporates influence from the surrounding Northwestern Native American Tribes. The main challenge was designing six custom rugs that would unite the existing architecture with the new softgoods scheme. Taking a graphic approach and drawing inspiration from some of the architectural elements, while incorparating native colors and pattern allowed us to enliven and unify the space. Community Paddling and Resource Center LOCATION: COVINGTON, KY UNDERGRADUATE SENIOR CAPSTONE As a senior capstone I was indivudually challeged to select a location, form a program, and design a space of my choice. I sought to improve the local community by adressing the following question: How can we reverse the effects of nature deficit disorder, revitalize the Ohio Riverfront and enhance the culture of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky?

SITE SELECTION The developments on either side of the Ohio river provide the perfect backdrop for a paddling center like Connect. They demontrate the community’s interest in outdoor recreation and a healthier lifestyle. The site is an abandoned streetcar barn whose cavernous interiors, historical character and proximity to the river make it an ideal location. It sits in a developing area of Covington/Newport, directly adjacent to the heavily trafficked 12th street bridge. It will share the space with the future Green Line Farmers Market, which will attract additional foot traffic.

PARTI + CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT While determining a site, the concept and parti were derived from the complex nature of the sport of paddling. Influencing factors include physical locations, technique, and equipment.

The depth of a river canyon and the idea that spatial connection creates human connection guided the stacking of volumes and formation of the central atrium. Light enters and reflects through the spaces enhancing this connection.

Effective storage and circulation of boats, movement paths of people and how these two interact with each other and the outdoors guided the spacial organization.

Bar / Transition Space

Providing a seamless transition from the urban fabric through Connect and into the outdoors influenced the breakdown of the space into three zones.

ZONING + SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT Along with the overall spatial parti, the user journey was a very important factor in determining zoning and spatial planning. The user is to experience a spatial progression guided by anticipation and connection between spaces and with the environment.

8. Connection Line Bar The bar provides both a beginning and end to the journey allowing guests to relax and socialize with other paddlers. It is a transition between Connect and the farmers market focusing especially on the guestsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; relationship with the water.

FINAL: DAAPWORKS 2013 [DAAP• wurks] the annual exhibit of graduating students from the UC College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning Capstone projects were put on display as part of a larger exhibit showcasing all graduating seniors’ final work. As a class we designed and constructed base displays, each of which was then comprised of three components. Final production included a 60” x 34” plot display, 1/8”=1’ scale model, and a set of printed program + process books.
