I am a graduate of landscape architecture. After two years of architecture training and four years of undergraduate studies in landscape architecture, I have learned the process of integrated design and cultivated various scales of landscape architecture projects, ranging from moderate garden projects to comprehensive urban designs. During the school, I used my spare time to do the part-time design assistant. In my experience at the educational institution and work place, I learned that what matter the most is not only the architecture itself, but also the life this building contained, along with the environment surrounding the exterior. Therefore, I believe that spatial design at different scales, such as urbanism, architectural design, garden design, or interior design, even they differ in content from each other, the core value lies in how people experience the space and how we designer integration of elements we have on site. Hence, I wish that I can achieve good balance between environment, architecture, and human being in the future while practising projects. In my experience in the architecture firm, I have been involved in small scale of architectural construction projects and planning. The practice inspired my interest to learn more about the construction document phase. In this phase, I can get more details in the design, and it also is the crucial phase to turn the design ideas into reality. I am a self-motivated and hard-working individual, and also a quick learner and a logical thinker. My approach to design begin with simple sketches to convey and capture ideas, moments and experiences. The process from sketching to modelling to representation is one that has become ingrained in my design philosophy. I eager to use all the experience I had in the professional world and keep exploring the infinite possibilities of landscape architecture.

PARK IN PROCESS I hope to break the monotony and limitations of boulevard, and try to make it interact with the city and become a good public space for the citizens. I first analysis intersections and street sections, to figure an outcome for pedestrians to have a continuous experience while walking through the boulevard. Also, through the analysis of surrounding functions and users, I will add some activity on the boulevard, so the boulevard won’t be just a repetitive linear space. Instead, they will become more diverse of lifestyle according to the context of the neighbors.
“Parks are volatile places. They tend to run to extremes of popularity and unpopularity. Their behavior is far from simple. They can be delightful features of city districts, and economic assets to their surroundings as well, but pitifully few are.” In this passage, Jane Jacobs believes that a successful park design is caused by the park itself and its surroundings. It starts to get me think that Taichung City has rich green spaces, but do these green spaces play a good role in being a good public space for their neighbors?

GREEN SPACE OF CENTRAL AREA OF TAICHUNG CITY I first studied the existing green spaces’ types in Taichung City, which can be roughly divided into four types: regional parks, pocket parks, boulevard, and green spaces around public buildings.

In my research, I found that due to the linear characteristics of boulevard, that makes it has more possibility to interact with the city. However, in the current planning, boulevard faces the city in the same way as the park, which is unconnected to the street. I hope to break the monotony and limitations of boulevard, and try to make it interact with the city and become a good public space for the citizens.
8
ANALYSIS OF SURROUNDING FUNCTIONS AND USERS I will add some activity on the boulevard, so the boulevard won’t be just a repetitive linear space. Instead, they will become more diverse of lifestyle according to the context of the neighbors.

INTERSECTIONS ANALYSIS
N27
I analysis intersections and street sections, to ďŹ gure an outcome for pedestrians to have a continuous experience while walking through the boulevard.
N27
12
INTERSECTION TYPES From the analysis of the intersection, it can be summarized into two types of intersections. One is the intersection with the main road passing, and the other is the intersection with the general or minor road passing.
intersections with main street passing through existing conditions The current street intersection design is completely based on vehicles. Pedestrians and cyclists can only use the remaining space. There are no sidewalks provided on the both side of the roadway. Pedestrians can only stand on the corner of the road while waiting for the signal to change.
intersections with main street passing through recommendation It is recommended to add sidewalks on both sides of the roadway and set up plant troughs at the corners of the sidewalk to prevent pedestrians from crossing the road randomly, also to protect pedestrians from collisions with vehicles while it’s turning. Set up a pedestrian crossing and bicycle lane in the center of boulevard on main street to make the moving experience won’t be interrupted.
13
intersections with minor street passing through existing conditions On the intersection with minor street passing through, due to the low traďŹƒc volume and the time of the signal is sometimes too long, pedestrians and cyclists often ignore the signal and pass by themselves. In addition, despite there are sidewalks at the both side of the roadway, but they are occupied by many scooters that block pedestrians from passing.
intersections with minor street passing through recommendation It is recommended to set up plant troughs at the corners of the sidewalk to prevent pedestrians from crossing the road randomly, and raised intersections to connect boulevards that can create a safe, slow-speed crossing, and encourage motorists to yield to pedestrians at the crosswalk.
14
According to the analysis of the functions around the boulevard and the users, I came out with the development direction of each area on the boulevard.

YUDE BOULEVARD Yude boulevard is mainly surrounded by medical school and hospital, most of the users are seniors, patients and medical students. I make this boulevard as an urban agricultural area, herbs are planted near the medical school and hospital, so students of the medical school can learn and take care of the herbs. At the same time, patients in the hospital can take a walk and rest here. On the west side of the boulevard, there are many elders who live nearby will gather and chat. Through the design of special shaped of planting trough, the elders can engage in low-level labor, in this case, they will extend their stay time, connect with the neighbors, and stay healthy.

A JOURNEY IN RUINS The artificial ruins create a wrinkle and overlap between reality and non-reality. The works of art imitate reality. The audience in the artificial ruins also became one of the components of the work. The ruins are no longer the image of hostility and struggle, it turned into a happy "folly". National Dong-shih Industrial High School was idle for over 19 years after the 921earthquake in 1999. The goal of this design was to reactivate the space here and turn this place as one of the exhibition halls of Taichung Flora Expo 2019.
For many people, the ruins are a negative and disturbing place. In capital society, if there is a ruin in the area, it will become a symbol of decay. In the 18th century, the artistic trend called, "Picturesque" appeared, and through the creation of art, the beauty of the ruins was formed. Picturesque started by artists, who gradually became tired of the classical aesthetic law that achieves objective beauty with mathematical proportions; for the nobles and the rich, the artificial ruins provide them entertainment.
24
CONCEPT For me, the ruins are very attractive, it is between reality and non-reality. You can feel the trace of the people who lived here before, and you can feel the time. In addition, the ruins appears as an open and closed space: the old and swaying door is not used to close, block, or protect; the bright open window is not used to watch/be seen; the wallpaper and paint on the wall mottled, and the soil scattered throughout the place.

nature elements Because of the campus has been abandoned for many years, it has covered by the nature elements, the structures are intertwined with nature. The interweaving of nature and artiďŹ cial is full of appeal. On the campus, you can feel the invisible elements, light, shadow, wind and humidity. They are revealed through broken roofs or windows, or through the mottled walls and the sound of the branches and leaves. I hope to preserve these naturally occurring plants in the design, and try to use those mottled walls, and openings to capture invisible natural elements, and people who are traveling here, the experience will be full of surprises and fun.

Planting Plan At the time of working on this project, the campus has been abandoned for a long time and someplace has already been covered by plants. In my concept, I tend to select Taiwan native plants as the display at the Flower Expo. After the exhibition, the plants on display will be retained and gradually cover the whole campus, bringing the area to return to nature. The ďŹ rst planting strategy is that I will choose Taiwan native plants. Secondly, to select some deciduous plants to increase the sense of season and color. And ďŹ nally, considered that Taiwan is rich in ferns, I will display various ferns and use Araceae plants as collocation.

HAUSE Inc. instead people are alienated. In this project, I took advantage of Lu-Kung which has preserved many traditional culture and crafts, such as wood craving, lantern drawing, pottery making, bamboo weaving and incense making. I reused the dorm house as an art colony that visitors can watch and participate the process of making art work, and the artist can exchange ideas. In this way, I wish to create a space that can not only activate the dorm house but also re-connect people through the experience of making arts.
Lu-Kung radio station had been used for military purpose during Chinese civil war. In late 90’s the radio station no longer served the army, and became a historic building. Workers who used to work in the radio station moved out from the dorm house and the building was leaved idle until today. The radio station was used to spread information that made connection to people that weren’t together. Today, with the fast development of internet and social media, people can get information and message from others instantly, it seems that we should be closer,

1928 Radio Taiwan International was founded in Nanjing, China 1949 After Kuomintang lost the Chinese Civil War, they came to Taiwan, and changed the name of Radio Station from Radio Taiwan Inernational to Broadcasting Corporation of China
1980 Due to the Chinese Civil War, the radio station had been a major spot to send message from Taiwan to China, so it belonged to Ministry of National Defense in 80’s. 1998 In late 90’s, the radiostation became a historic building.
33
In the past, space were all separated by walls. I open these walls in order to make people share the working space so that everyone can interact, and the visitors can see people who are engaged in art creation even if they are not involved. In addition, through food culture people can get to know each other easily, so I also removed the wall of the cooking and dining space so that everyone can have conversation.

TOILET IN NATURE environment and to the people who live within. In this project, I was asked to design a new toilet in wing building. In the entire office area, we have many types of plants. We can easily feel the turn of seasons here. Working in such great environment has always been a pleasure for us. I wished to maintain the spirit, so I defined it as “a toilet in nature”. The experience in the toilet, moving materials such as the wind and the sun will be visible. I wish going to the toilet can be small bliss to everyone from busy work.
Banmu Tang environment integration is a studio that value the relationship between people, architecture and environment. In their design, they interconnect with surroundings, integrate with people’s living and make their architecture fit into the rhythm, tightly and harmonically. In order to materialize such architectural philosophy, their design follows the circulation of nature, and accommodates the regional characteristics of the local environment. They believe in a livable architecture that should breathe with nature. It should response to its time, to the

The space behind it which has a bamboo facade is another office space. In the future, there will be a new entrance at there.

The handrail of the staircase was originally composed by branches, and through exposing to the wind, sun and rain, the nails and screws which were used to lock the branches are exposed. To solve the problem, the new railing is welded with reinforcing bars and steel plates, which is durable and safe.

EARTH material has been used in the interior design as the wall paint, not only carries the ancient wisdom, but also adds the warmth feelings in the modern building. Now we hope to use this material in the construction, so we held the earth workshop. In this workshop, we hope to study the history of earth been used as construction material, and learn from others' experiences, in order to develop a construction method and ratio that is suitable for our local area and can be applied to modern architecture in our future designs.
In Banmu Tang’s project, we always hope to respond to the site in the most suitable way. Therefore, we study the context, natural and cultural elements of the site, and in the choice of materials, we select the local materials as possible as we can. Earth is an important building material in Taiwan's traditional architecture. In the past, the ancestors made mud bricks in the leisure time of farming, and use them when building new houses. Earth can regulate the microclimate of the house such as temperature and humidity. In our project, this
56
process The workshop last for nine months. In these nine months, we went through four phases. The first phase was the preparatory phase lasted for one month. I collected and organized the knowledge of earth from around the world and our vernacular architecture. The other three stages last for two months each. In these three stages, I will pass on the knowledge I have collected to the designers, and in the third and fourth stages, we experimented some earth ratio and constructed a structure on our own.

In the first month of the workshop, I collected information about the earth, such as the advantages and disadvantages of this material, the classification method, the application in space, the detail design and the maintenance management after completion.
In the first workshop, I showed the designers the advantages of using this material, the way and composition of earth, and the different types of construction method that earth can be built.
I organized the data by mind maps and became part of the company's data.

Among them, rammed earth building technic has been used in modern architecture worldwide now. I also explained the limitations of this material and how we can overcome these problems.

In the second workshop, as we hope to further use the earth that was originally used in the interior design, we will discuss more detail design of the rammed earth building such as the details of the slabs, walls, roofs and openings, etc. We studied a book from Martin Rauch, which has a lot of detailed design about rammed earth building.
In the last workshop, we tried to apply what we learned. We built a structure as a book house in a park near the company. In this construction, because of the time and the access of the material we cannot try the building technic of rammed earth.
After completing the construction of the book house, we continued to observe the interaction between residents and space. In the last workshop, we shared the observations on the site with each other and shared our views from the wokshop.
Instead we used the technique of wattle and dub. Even we can’t test the data from the previous workshop, we still know this material more during the construction process.
For me, the experience to see people interacting with the space created by myself is unprecedented. It is proved that the intervention of a design will completely change the way how people live in the space.
In this workshop, we also experimented with several formulations of earth materials as a basis for future design.

PUSHAN VILLAGE concept of environmental circulation. The flooring is made from recycled oyster shells and the walls are made from red clay in order to allow residents to live in an alkaline and natural environment to enhance health. While Jiang Wenyuan walked in and out of the buildings, he pointed out the relationships between man and space. As he touched the red clay walls, opened the windows, and even cooked, he expressed his wish as an architect, to embody the essence of man, life, and nature.
Planned and designed by Banmu Tang, this village building project in Taichung’s Taijon Mountain is a modern village that combines environmental protection, culture, and architecture. Here, the relationship between buildings and mankind is once again an effortless circulation. When we say that a person is five feet seven inches tall, meaning the length of the five feet, plus the width of the seven thumbs, we use the body parts to compare the length. In the age of metric system, one hundred and seventy centimeters means that the height is one point seven in ten million
"Measurement" was created by the Architecture department’s student from Tung-hai University to interpret the current situation of Taichung City space by collecting material, unit conversion, mediator replacement, and reorganization. A map of the city with spatial identity.
72
My work is in the topic of “measurement”. In this exhibition, there are other topic such as “the sound space project”, which is about the relationship between the auditory experience and the physical experience in the space, and “the moving theater”, it’s about the definition of theatre space from a theatre-loving artists. All the works in the exhibition are involved the topic of space and people.

The word façade in the architectural terminology is derived from the word face, which is the interface used by the building to show people. The design of the facade, from the classical norm carving, the modern bare straightening, to the post-modern cortex, leaving a rich and diverse facade information on the city streets. The "Facade Archives" extends the concept of the face of the building, recording the facade expressions of the houses in the central district of Taichung and arranging them on the headshot photo. Just as the photo of the document records the self-identiďŹ cation and identity of our dierent periods, the facade of the building in the city is also a face that stops in time, waiting for the reading of their life story.

For me, I don’t consider myself a very powerful painter, but for a long time I found that doodling is a good way for me to express myself. At some moments, the thoughts in my mind aren’t so clear, I can’t put feelings into words. Then, I will doodle to self-soothing. Although those patterns do not represent any meaning, but with drawing repeatedly, my mood will calm down, and my thoughts will gradually become clear. In addition, sometimes these doodle can also be the collecting of data about our lives. I would spend some times noticing and noting down my activities or thoughts, and
Doodle became a kind of routine in my life. Whether it’s for self-soothing or a collection of life information and ideas. The following two project are my doodle works. The first one is created when I travel alone to the Setouchi Triennale which is a contemporary art festival held every three years on several islands in the Seto Inland Sea of Japan this year, and the other one was the drawing I did for the movie ‘ The Million Dollar Hotel’ after I watched it in 2014.

SAILING DAYS These three pieces were created while I traveled alone in Seto Inland Sea. Therefore, I will have plenty of time to talk to myself and examine my life. These moments helped me to sort things out in life and become more independent.
