Hinduism  Buddhism has its origin in India  One of the Oldest Religions in the world  Entirely based on Teachings of Buddha

held until now  However, in India, 3 Buddhist Councils have been held  3rd Buddhist Councils is a little disputed one.  Even 4th Buddhist Council is being held at 2 places; one in Sri Lanka and other in Jammu and Kashmir under Emperor Kanishka  However, some scholars consider 4th one equally tendentious as the 3rd Buddhist Council

 The 1st Buddhist Council was being held immediately

after the death of Buddha  Many Scholars believe it was held around 400 BC  The Objective to preserve the sayings of Buddha and monastic discipline or rules.  Abhidhamma Pitaka was also believed to have been included in 1st Buddhist Council  The Suttas were recited by Ananda, While the Vinaya was recited by Upali.

 The 2nd Buddhist Council was held in 4th Century BC, in order to solve the dispute aroused between Vajjiputtakas Monks and Yasa, a monk  The event was mainly attended by the Western and Southern Scholars  This event was held by 700 monks  The Committee of 8 monks found against Vajjiputtakas Monks  It was considered as a historic event in the Buddhism religion

 The 3rd Buddhist Council was held in 251 BCE  In the Popular Beliefs, 3rd Buddhist Council was

convened by the Mauryan King Ashoka  The main objective was to purify the Saṅgha, in particular from non-Buddhist ascetics who were highly attracted by the royal patronage  During this Council, Ashoka asked suspected Monks about Buddha’s Teachings  There have been many disputes regarding 3rd Buddhist Council
