a mbro mbroSe 2021-2022 Undergraduate Overview

The university you choose is important because it’s your first step on the road to your career. But what’s even more important is who you become during your university years. When you study at Ambrose, you’ll have room to address life-shaping questions of faith and purpose, joined by others who are also becoming the men and women God created them to be. You will emerge knowing what and why you believe as you do, along with the knowledge, skills and experience that will open the doors to your future. You will have confidence because you know yourself and your vocational call, and are ready to make a positive difference in the world.

WHY AMBROSE While a university degree paves the way for a promising future, not every university can provide the level of personal attention from faculty which Ambrose can. At Ambrose, when the expertise and experience of our faculty come into direct contact with the aspirations and courage of our students, the transformative power of education is realized. But the extent to which this transformation is possible depends on an environment in which the average class size is 17 students, faculty are eager and readily available for one-on-one discussions, and students receive personal guidance in their research, publishing and work-related learning. These are the elements which deeply shape the lives of Ambrose graduates and prepare them to make important contributions in their chosen fields.

My business education at Ambrose is invaluable, but my personal development is even more so. Professors here are passionate about helping students become proficient in their field of study and grow into wise men and women who allow God into every part of their lives. The community is tight-knit, and living on campus has definitely enriched my first-year experience. Some of my fondest memories are when study sessions turned into deep conversations that ended in prayer. I am so glad that I can be authentic and spiritually supported as I learn. Bridget Bachelor of Business Administration student

YOUR AMBROSE EXPERIENCE… Academic Excellence Interact one-on-one with your professors and fellow students. Because classes are small in size, you are invited to be part of the conversation, to explore and offer new perspectives and innovative ideas. Your learning will be shaped by faculty who are experts in their fields, having researched and published in areas as diverse as: The relationship between technology and live musical performance Understanding molecular controls that modulate proliferation and differentiation in cells The relationship between the Bible, technology and ethics How pluralism and choice are shaping Canadian youth and the future of Canada The relationship of Aristotle’s Poetics to Shakespeare’s and Jonson’s comedies The intersection of race, ethnicity, immigration and the justice system Jesus’ teaching on interpersonal forgiveness Our Student Academic Success team is also here to help you succeed academically, both as you transition to, and continue on, your university life. The services offered include writing assistance, tutoring support, accessibility services and career counselling.

Ambrose students have the privilege of gaining the same quality of education as other students in larger schools, but in smaller class sizes. Shelby Bachelor of Science in Biology program

Community Experience Be a part of a varied and vibrant campus life. As an Ambrose student, you’re included in a community that truly cares about who you are and what you are capable of achieving. No matter your interests, there is something that will inspire you to get involved at Ambrose. Student clubs and chapel services, leadership opportunities and recreation are opportunities to enhance your experience of university life and develop new strengths. In addition, our residence and student life teams or staff are here to support you along the way.

Spiritual Journey Live out your faith at Ambrose. Chapel services every Tuesday and Thursday are times of worship, prayer and reflection on God’s love for us. Bible studies, prayer teams, and women’s or men’s ministry with friends and faculty members are opportunities to develop lifelong spiritual friendships. Throughout the year there are numerous ways to serve your community and give generously of yourself as Christ has taught us to do.

At Ambrose I’ve always been challenged to ask deep questions and wrestle with my faith in a safe and hospitable environment. I’ve been encouraged to strive for excellence in my academic studies.
