MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN Dear Fellow Members: Each spring the international business community in Hong Kong comes together for a night of dancing and entertainment at the AmCham Ball. It’s a tradition that goes back many years, and I am pleased to report that this year’s Rhapsody of Stars AmCham Ball was another huge success. The Ritz Carlton Hotel did another remarkable job in creating an atmosphere of elegance and fun inside the Diamond Ballroom. The Ritz’s Chef put together another wonderful meal, accentuated by a suburb selection of wine from our friends at Golden Gate Wine. This year’s big band entertainment played into the wee hours, and their music was brought life thanks to the expert sound engineering of Sennheiser. I would like to thank this year’s Ball Committee lead by Vice Chairman Walter Diaz, together with AmCham’s Director of Events Mary Simpson, and all the AmCham team members who helped make the evening a success. It takes a lot of preparation and hard work to make an event like the AmCham Ball look easy. The Committee succeeded in doing just that. A special thanks our EVIP and VIP table sponsors this year. Also thanks to our table gift, photo booth, cocktail and lounge sponsors, as well as our grand prize sponsors. The AmCham Ball would not be possible without your generosity and your support. Our appreciation also goes out to The American Club, The Hong Kong International School and The American Women’s Association who help support our American community throughout the year. Thank you for making the evening so special. In addition to dinner and dancing, the AmCham Ball also raises money for its Charitable Foundation which is led this year by AmCham’s 2013 Chairman James Sun. The Charitable Foundation supports local charities, recognizes outstanding local high school students, and provides partial scholarships to local students who are studying in the United States. I am pleased to say that through the generosity of all those who participated in our silent auction the fundraising at this year’s Ball was a major success. Thanks to FunRaising Events Ltd for overseeing the silent auction and thanks to all of you who bid so generously during the evening. As AmCham celebrates its 45th anniversary we remain steadfast in our commitment to the international business community in Hong Kong, and we are sincerely grateful to the members and sponsors who helped make the AmCham Ball such a success.
